I got my tacho from Graeme Cooper Automotive in NSW. Cant remember how much it was. I swapped out my dash clock for the tacho. It came with all installation instructions. The tacho even has 'TD5' labelled inside the unit.

Graeme Cooper - Land Rover Expert parts-supply and expert service (http://www.graemecooper.com.au/)

Hope this helps.

After paying far more than I needed to for my VDO tacho in my 300TDi, I discovered these (http://www.egauges.com/vdo_mult.asp?Type=Tachometer&Series=Vision&Units=E) guys. Not sure what a TD5 needs though, as I believe it gets the pulse from the ECU?

I bought a Specometer tacho for my td5, it sitting on the shelf, haven't got around to fitting it yet, It has a 4, 6 & 8 switch on the back of it, no 5

What position do i put it to? Does the ECU give the pulses of a 4 cyl? is there a "5" on the land rover genuine one?

Thanks

Mike

I have mine installed, and got it from the Dealers. Easy to install, and even has TD5 on the front. Should be standard on Defenders.

Cheers,

as Defenda90 said, got mine from Graeme Cooper, was cheap at the time (on special) and no fitting drama's because of the 5-cyl diesel. Got TD5 stamped in it and works well

Over here (in the UK) you have 2 choices for a TD5 - Either use the genuine LR TD5 stamped gague or get the LR TD5 stamped gague from Croyec.

The TD5 unit is specific for the TD5 ecu. It takes its pickup from pin 19 (from memory) off the ECU.

They are about £100 GBP over here from Croytec, probably double that from the dealers.

They're available for the Tdi, Td5 and the V8's from the land rover shop.

I think Tdi and V8 can use same gauge, TD5 one though is different.

From memory it was about $170, but that was 2 years ago. It did wire into the #19 pin, and I just ran a wire from the tacho, down under the floor mats, and into the ECU. I actually got rid of the clock, and shifted the other small (fuel, and temp) to the right, so the tacho is next to the speedo.

Ken

They're all the same thing it's the plug on the back that makes the Td5 gauge different from the others.
