It has taken awhile but finally I have finished making the front bar for my DII and raising the winch higher up as well to provide a better approach angle the old TJM one was allways getting pushed into the guards or the winch fairlead digging into stuff.

the first pic shows the new winch cradle I made also added extra mounting points to help hold the winch in place having once pulled the mounting bolts out of the threads so now have 8 bolts instead of the four at the bottom, also had to remove the electric fan and fitted two slightly smaller fans side by side.

the second pic shows the pipe I put through the bar this is to mount the driving lights

the third is after I painted it and fitted the winch fairlead

and finally fitted to the disco I used the crash cans from the orginal bar do not want the air bags going off when they should'nt and am keeping an eye out for some rubber bump stops may have to go to a truck supplyier it has less sharp corners than the previous bar and lighter aswell

only things left to do is a proper number plate mount thinking of fitting it in front of the winch fairlead and having it hinge up when I need to use the winch and mount the two way and phone aerials but thinking of mounting those at the rear on the spare trye mount.

Wow, nice work! Thanks for sharing the pictures! Your Disco now has an awesome approach angle.

One thing that worries me though - with this custom bar, your air bags may no longer deploy correctly because the sensors are calibrated to sense a particular crash "pulse".

Anyway, I don't mean to rain on your parade, but please do suss that bit out about airbags for the safety of yourself and your passengers.

thats why I used the crash cans from the first bullbar there is bars out there that will mount directly to the chassis I sort of copied some aspects from pictures on their web site and they use a plate to mount theirs to the chassis and it is a brand that is sold in Australia.

I do not expect it will act the same as the first bar but I know there is a difference in the TJM and ARB bars the second having a slightly higher 'crash pulse' but have not seen the ARB up close to compare the two.
