I was working in Rawson over Easter.
I went to the Stockyards bar to get some takeaway cans on Saturday night when I overheard 2 Trail Bike riders discussing the days ride.
They both seemed to have had a great day out, but were cheesed right off that the cops had booked their mates for unlicensed riding, even though the bikes were registered!
Fair go! There are big posters all over the place warning of the penalties for Unlicensed-Unregistered riding, as well as a local radio campaign with frequent reminders of the penalties for the offences. Locals are fair peed of with muppet riders who tear around the town and surrounding bush with modified noisy bikes. I called through Evans Brothers Quarry and Kilns at Coopers Creek on Sunday and there were 3 young blokes on unregistered bikes screaming around the campers in the quarry, until plod turned up and booked them, to the delight of the campers. 3 Young blokes giving 1 copper a gobfull of abuse for ruining their holiday! What about the families that went away for a bit of peace and quiet?
Sorry if it's turning into a rant.......

:clap2::clap2:For the cops I say. It's not that hard to find a place to ride that wont annoy everybody, and it's not that hard to get a license for the older ones.

Can't stand selfish morons who think they can do what they want and to hell with everyone else. Do it to them and they'd be the first to complain. Good on plod I reckon!

OK I ride trail bikes. but I am licenced and registered. these blokes need a good kicking, there is no issue with dirt bikes themselfs. just these idiot blokes who dont think.

Rare to find a Cyclist who also rides dirt bikes....

I used to ride a YZ250 and gave it up for push bikes as there was more of a rush going downhill on a bike than there is on a motorcross bike...

Well it was in my mind..

It's not that I have a real deep set against bikes. If they are registered and licensed they are legitimate bush users, just like us 4 wheel drivers.
Try living or working-in my case- on a property that joins onto a State forest.
You can set your watch by the 5 minute laps some of them do around a short loop. They seem to scared to venture out of sight of the town.
Them you get Dad and Uncle who bring the kids up with their mini bikes for the weekend and encourage them to follow them around.
As for shooting them, Happy Jack track runs right behind our Paintball field:)

I am a life member of a trailbike club and currently own a registered bike as all members of our club must. All members must also be licensed. Our rides mainly consist of leaving the cars in the morning and not returning to the cars until late afternoon after travelling up to 200 kms of trails (try that in a 4wd!).
As far as I am concerned the police and DSE should be more active in enforcing laws and fineing clowns who ruin things for everyone. That includes people in 4wd's that play in the mud until tracks are unpassable by relatively stock vehicles.

Anyway, check out our web site www.amtra.com.au (http://www.amtra.com.au). It is a fairly recent version of the site and not finished but getting there.

For those Vics travelling through the Buffalo River area Cobbler Lake Track runs right through the AMTRA property off Buffalo River/Abbeyard Road.

A Dic&%ead is a Dic&%ead regardless of their choice of transport, conduct or use of language in public. If you can't be bothered to get a licence or register your vehicle then you can't complain when you get stung.
I used to ride with a pretty broad group of individuals and the number that thought it was acceptable to go out in public sans licence or rego was surprising.

And always remember, it is/was always somebody else's fault.

:bangin:there are plenty of clubs (A.M.T.R.A, D.S.M.R.A and M.A. affiliated clubs) that people can join these days that hold regular events etc. to cater for dirtbike riders, and they all have a good ethical code of conduct, the same a 4wd clubs. Its the small minority of idiots that seem to think that its their god given right to do what they want that give dirt bikes the bad name. Its the same with 4wd drive owners who tear up the country side and leave all their rubbish at camp sites on properties that they have no authority to be on.
The blame lies squarely on the shoulders of the individuals and not on dirt bike riders in general.

It would seem that we have the same problems on this side of the planet ,langers are universal on quads trials and 4x4 .saw a mog recently in an special area of conservation , after they videoed it and posted it on the web

And it is bad form to shoot them unless they are on the rise with at least one wheel off the ground.

They don't want to catch the trailbike riders who ride the streets day & night here.

The most recent conversation was:
Police:
We don't like chasing them because the only way we catch them is when they come off
Me:
And the problem is ???

Its not really about being registered or unregistered its about etiquette. Respect other people and act responsiblly. There are plenty of unregistered bikes, buggies, quads etc over here in fact I own 2. There is plenty of space to ride them but there are a lot of tossers ruing it for all by the way and location they ride.
Having said that there are a lot of kids on bikes where we were camped over easter and most are good, one went a little fast and braked a little hard in the van park and was ripped big time by his parents as it should be. It is tolerated out there and most of the time is not too bad, on the beach it is a different story with morons thinking they have free reign. The Ranger put pay to that a couple of times. Do the right thing and they will often tolerate it eg walking pace around any other people.
The worst was in fact a registered and licensed 17 yo blonde in a bubble mobile, doing 30-40kms in an 8kmph van park and drinking, probablly drunk. I pulled her up once and others twice, she was warned if she hit any kids she would have 2 broken legs and no car. She and her friends did get booted from the park.
Just as bad or worse were the morons that had to have their music flat out and then have to speak over it until 0100am.
Give me the kids on the bikes with some etiquette any day.
