I was looking at the nice beautiful chassis rail today - and noticed that there's a heap of space alongside them, especially under the drivers seat - but also in other areas.
Now if I were to utilise say an old truck tank or something along them lines, it should be very easy to mount it on straps and the chassis similar to say how the Hino and Isuzu's etc mount their fuel tanks. You can then just use a little pump with a switch in the cab to fill up the main from that tank etc.
Thoughts on this?

Hello cewilson,
It sounds like you have placed some thought into this as it is something i am looking at myself, Just remember that you don't want the tank to hang below the Chassis Rail or you may be unimpressed if you tank is on the ground after you have been 4WDing (considering the cost of Fuel:mad:).
good luck and hope to see some pics when you are fininshed:)

Why not just buy purpose made sill tanks - they come up from time to time on ebay etc.

I have just finished making a sill tank (direct copy image of a $1500 aftermarket one) and it was the biggest pain ever. It has 20! sides in total due to all the cut outs. The good news is that i made templates of all the sides before i started, and i only have 2 tanks more to make...... The passenger side tank is slightly different, due to the cutout for the battery box. I will lend out the templates to those interested when i'm finished with them.
