does anyone know what could be causing this? all the exterior lights work as they should, its just something thats annoying to know is flashing on the dash.
the one thing i have noticed is that the brake light on one side of the car appears to be a 21/5w globe and under brakes only the 5w is operating. could this cause any issue with the trailer light coming on?
am i right in thinking that it should be a straight 21w globe in the brake light housing?

Do you have a bullbar with extra indicators?
That'll do it ;).
Have a look here for alternative globe suggestions:

The trailer flasher activates because the system detects a higher current draw on the indicator circuit. Usually this is from the addition extra indicator bulbs in a bull bar, but if you did have higher wattage bulbs than normal in the circuit it could also feasibly give the same affect.

A bit of a search reveals that it has extra indicators:
Carsguide - Vehicle details (dealer used) (http://search.carsguide.news.com.au/news/find-a-car/power-search/search-results/car-details.do'vehicleId=NIMEMAAP6:ML28&eRecId=49894&eReturnUrl=w6.0-search-results.jsp%3FN%3D4294967257%2B299%2B419%2B%2B4294 967172%2B%2B%2B4294967171&searchType=1&vehicleType=1)
Easiest option is to fit the lower wattage globes into the bull bar lights.
Re: brake light globe.
I think the D2 has separate brake & tail light globes so your theory might well be correct.

thanks heaps guys. nice how my car is still for sale 2 weeks later!!!
never even thought of the bullbar lights causing issues. as i said everything works 100%. at least i know now there isnt a fault somewhere.
oh and why do they have "side lights" as well as parkers?
thanks again.

by side light, do you mean the indicator repeater on the guards?

no i mean the part of the headlight units that has the blinker section. part of that amber lens has a second set of parkers, or "side lights" as the manual calls them.

I'm not sure why Land Rover went that way with the Disco2 - it looks a bit "American" if you ask me (they've always had orange parkers).
Why they retained the white parkers & have orange side lights too might have something to do with legislation in other countries.
