I can't fathom Ford unloading Land Rover other than selling a profitable arm to prop up failing fortunes.
I watch a fair few movies that are just lousy with Land Rovers, even if most bad guys drive black Range Rovers.
Currently watching a Steven Segal movie " Flight of Fury" and he is driving a Series 2 Discovery, on 401 on Austar.
I once saw a list of movies that feature Land Rovers, does any one know this list.
Even the garden show on Lifestyle this afternoon, they rocked up in a 90 Defender.

Thanks, just what I remembered.
I watched the movie last week "I Dreamed of Africa" BTW a true story, and throughout it featured three series 2's.

........
My understanding has been that it is exactly that. Ford is in fairly serious financial strife, and Landrover is the only part of the operation that is a) profitable (and hence saleable), and b) reasonably separable from the rest of the operation. Jaguar is along because it fits with it more or less and is neither profitable nor a major loss maker, at least for the present. Landrover is currently the best performing part of the Ford empire, but is a rather small and non-essential part, and so is the bit that is most readily convertible into cash. I note that the sale includes an agreement to take Ford engines for the next four years.
