From a quick Google, it seems a 1991 could be either the LT85 or the LT77. Going to hopefully look at an old Disco tomorrow, and the owner has no real idea about the car, so wondering how I tell what box it has, or if Disco's of that year always had one type?

Hi Jeff
If there is such a thing as a Landrover in 19991 I reckon gearboxes would have been obsolete for a few thousand years:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

All Disco's from 1989 to 1994 have LT77 unless converted to auto.

None came with LT85

Thanks. Was going to have a look at one as a possible source of complete engine and drivetrain for use in my Defender. However, ran out of time to go and have a look at it today, and I'm off on a business trip for a week from tomorrow, so it'll have to wait till I get back.

There's always one comedian. ;)

Lack of use is not for want of trying....just v. busy with work, which usually takes me abroad a lot. When I'm home, I'm either catching up on family time, or shooting. Sadly the LR comes a poor third. :(

Nah...it's why I bought a cheap, old one. Doesn't hurt to have it there as a seldom used plaything.
