Hi Hiline
A quick and a very general reply about Mitsubishi's in general is that the build quality is excellent and much, much better than most others I wont mention, for fear of offending some. I've only owned Magnas (3 of them) and all have never missed a beat.
Still have a '94 Magna wagon with 230,00k's it's had about $350 spent in 6 years on spares and maintenance combined.
I wouldnt hesitate with another Mitsubishi.
Sorry, but probably not the answer you hoped for.
Good luck

the idea doesn't bother me really as my 130 has been a great reliable truck
i need to spend a few bucks on the wifes P38 so i thought why waste money on that just get her a new one instead

I actually like the outlander i would buy one ahead of any of the other softies, well equipped and a good size. When hell freezes over and we can afford one i would get the missus one.

Being a freelander owner, i rekon they couldnt think of a name :P
On a serious note, my gf has a new lancer, and the build quality is very good on the new cars. Absolutely amazing car, espcially when compared to the quality they used to make. Apologies to the person with the magnas, but until recent, i think mitsu's have been tragic ...
Cheers!

Sorry Ray. I saw one today - not as bad as I thought. I was mixing it up with another Mitsu softroader - this one:

I reckon they go like excrement from a manual agricultural excavation device too...:D
Most small cars are great to drive.
I did 100km/h in 2nd in [mum's] last generation Pulsar. Unbelievable engine. Revs happily at 7000 rpm, redlined at 7500.
Little bro's 1999 Lancer with 1.5 is breathless in comparison though, needs a few good revs under its belt to get moving:angel:

I've driven the previous model as a rental car a few times when interstate.
I really didn't mind it at all... :wasntme:
But given the choice of soft roaders I like the Ford Escape V6. I first drove one a few years ago as a rental in Northern California and was very impressed. They feel very solid for a softy. A mate even used to take his off road before he saw the light and got a disco. :p

Hi All,
I have no direct experience, but when my partner & I were looking for a new car for her, I approached my next door neighbour (who had recently retired as an NRMA vehicle inspector). He told us to avoid Mitsubishi as their engines are "suss".
Best Wishes,

Has to be some truth in that what your neighbour has said . But on the other hand with a 10 year ( i think ) warranty i can't see where you could go wrong . and each model has it's own lemon and it only takes a hand full of lemons to make it a bad car what ever it is . My Aunty has an Outlander and has never let her down in the 3 years she has had it and is always going somewhere .

the warranty is great value we think :D
5yrs on most moving parts you know the general stuff
10yrs on engine and gearbox and driveline :D

Have you bought the Outlander yet?
If not, two colleagues from work recently bought Outlanders each from Chadstone Mitsubishi. Apparently they were far better than the Knox dealership and negotiated fantastic deals. Contacts were Tony Cowell & Troy Stombanis or similar.
