G'day my Mexican friends

I've been looking for late model or at least low km td5s and there seem more in Melbourne than anywhere else at the moment. There are a couple in dealerships in Melbourne which have (on website at least) some nice looking cars. Best not to mention names.... if you're a Melbournian and know the state of the dealers you can PM me. Also I am no expert when it comes to checking these things out - would there be anyone who is an expert willing to inspect a vehicle or two in Melbourne? (Happy to pay as needed). I live a long way away and for me to get time off to do so would be nigh impossible. Thanks.

If you can't find an AULRO member to look, I think Ritters will do it for you if you can get a car to them, it's around $300 from memory (don't quote me).

I reckon it's worth your time to go and have a look yourself, or wait for cars to turn up in your area if poss.

Whatever you do, don't follow my lame effort - I put a deposit on a Rangie in Melbourne being sold by a dodgy-as-hell dealer, and trusted his phone BS and selectively taken pics he emailed to me.

When I got to Melbourne with bankcheque in hand, the car was terrible, even the dripping car detailing gloss chemicals couldn't hide it (in fact, that made it worse). I was very, very lucky to get out of there with my $500 deposit, he certainly was getting aggro and shaping up to not giving it back. I was willing to rip up the $500 though, if that meant that I wasn't lumped with the car.

Nothing worse than a car you don't want, and buying (or putting a deposit down) sight unseen from a distance is more common in this cyber age but after my experience I wouldn't risk it unless you knew and trusted the person or had a money-back guarantee.
