Torch LED replacement

Ok, I know that you can get LED conversions for maglites, and they look like just a big LED in a case to replace a normal globe.

Question is, will this fit a normal torch, and are there cheaper alternatives than the maglite one.

I'm looking at replaceing the globe in my camping head torch with a LED for more brightness and longer battery life.
