Hello,
I'm trying to fit a locking driver's door catch to a SIIa 109 and the lock barrel of the standard optional door lock (Rover Part 337801) fouls the door frame where it mounts. This is a museum vehicle so panel surgery is not an option.

I've seen series twos and two-A's with a locking door catch that has a lock barrel that pivots with or on the outer door handle and appears to lock to a post set into the door catch backing plate. They have a sort of rubber surround on the barrel.

If anyone understands my description and knows what I mean, I'm trying to locate one and they don't appear in the parts books I have. Do they have a part number? Can you buy them? If so where?

Thanks,
Andrew

My SIIa 109" has what I think you are trying to describe. I will take a picture when next I remember, as it is dark now. At least then you and others know what you are looking for.
Aaron.

I believe you are describing the door "private lock" used on Series 1 station wagons and carried onto the series 2 station wagon vehicles and as an option on other models. I believed they changed to the later, more secure design (that you can't use for fear of damage) with the Series 2a model.

The early design had the door catch mechanism and the handle as separate parts, only later did they come assembled as a catch mechanism or as a locking catch mechanism. You need the early type so you can replace the handle.

The lock mechanism for the series 1 S/W is Rover Part Number 306036 the key (various codes but all part number) 307289
The system requires a different handle which has the bracket Rover Part number 306101 and is the same part as the handle on the Station Wagon back door.

Hope this helps.
