I just wanted to post a little info:
My Brother has a Jeep (don't start!) and it threw out it's double carden this week, the centre "ball and socket" joint inside along with it's needle bearings were destroyed.
Anyway, he phoned around and was quoted up to $750 for it to be repaired.
He eventually spoke to a guy named Lawrence at a place called Universal Driveshaft Services in North Melbourne, and they cut off the destroyed end of the driveshaft, replaced all the uni joints, replaced the ball and socket and centre needle bearing, welded on a new end then balanced the whole shaft for.....wait for it.....$350!!!!
Russell says the car has never run as smoth as it does now.
I have heard of rediculous prices on here for the Disco ones, just thought i'd mention (my brother) Russell's experience with them.
I have no other reason to recommend these guys, just Russell said that Lawrence was really professional about everything, and very pleasant to deal with.(seems to happen less often these days:( )
Cheers all,
Fraser
