Hi everyone, I'm moving back from the UK to the Gold Coast, just cant bare to leave my '72 SWB S3 station wagon behind. Started looking into import licence, seems a bit complicated. Has anyone out there done this sort of thing, and is there any advice you can give.

Gday mate give the rego department an email but I am sure if you live over sea for more than a year and own the car for that year you can legally bring it in with no duty fee and because it is pre emmissions e.g. before I think 90 not sure on that one you dont need an Australian compliance plate for Australian standards.
Just need to get import clearance from customs and DOT department of transport.

I enquired about importing motorbikes didnt sem that hard just got to speak to the right department and find someone willing to help you which is the hardest part.

hope this bit of useless informatioon stored in my head helps you a little.

thanks Ralph.

if you can prove that you have owned it for 12 months or more it can be imported as a personal effect, so no tax

Hi,

I so wish I had brought my SWB 73 series 3 and Disco TD5.

Had loads of spares for the series 3 too.

Dont get here and regret like I do.

Good luck!
