View Full Version : I've sold my Defender - mixed emotions

I've finally done it, I've sold my Defender and bought a TDV6 RRS, I really wanted a TDV8 but couldn't justify the extra 20 grand. The problem was my wife wouldn't drive a manual in the city, although she was perfectly happy to drive it on and off road towing a heavy camping trailer.

I really love Defenders and have owned one for almost all of the last 40 years. And the TD5 Xtreme is by far and away the most capable, fastest and most reliable. But it was time to move on.

My question is this: Do I share information about the RRS using the Disco 3 forum? Or is it time there was a separate RRS forum on AULRO? I notice quite a few RRS owners on this site.

(BTW the deal with my wife was that if after a few years I still want a Defender I can buy one, but after just a few days of driving the RRS this seems extremely unlikely, it is a seriously good car).

Oh Boo Hoo, poor darling went from a Fender to an RRS :p...I'd be doing backflips :D. I had mixed emotions, mind you I went from a D3 HSE V8 to an 03 D2 S model...no offence to the D2 as I have fallen in love with it....but that was something to cry about :wasntme:,

Regards

Stevo

P.S. Tongue firmly in cheek, I know how my fender brothers in the club feel about their vehicle and if I didnt have 5 children to seat plus 2 adults, the heart was firmly saying Fender over Disco :)

If you are into bling then there is RRSPORT.CO.UK - Index (http://www.rrsport.co.uk/forum/) and RangeRovers.net :: Index (http://rangerovers.net/forum/)

:p

I will miss not having to worry about branches scratching the sides, rocks denting the sides, stone chips and the muddy dog and most of all the incredibile off-road ability.

I won't miss the badly fitting doors, the crappy air conditioner and the clutch that must have been designed for superman.

My intention IS to take this thing off-road, and see what it will do.

Is the Range Rover Chat suitable for a RRS? It is after all just a Disco 3 in drag.

It's a D3 with bling so the D3 forum for you:D. Did you order it with different tyres to the stock fit?

I chose the 18 inch wheels (not the 19 or th 20) but I am looking for a set of suitable wheels maybe 17s from a Disco. Any ideas?

You can get grabbers and Coopers for the 18"s. Why change sizes? Let's face it, while we all hope you go places in the RRS, no one's expecting G4 stuff!
