We are heading off in early June 3 for months from NE Vic to Alice Springs, Tanami Track & WA. The new Defender will need a service on this trip. There are dealers in Alice Springs or Karratha (WA). Has anyone had any experiences, good or bad, with either dealer.

Big Jon used to work at the Alice dealer (Suttons) - and I have heard good things about Sutton Motors here. I also have heard good things about the Karratha dealer but from one private source.

My 07 Defender is already booked into Suttons for the 20 000km service whilst we are in Alice. :D

Is BigJon no longer with Suttons at Alice?
Some of our group had excellent service from him last August and he really knows his Land Rovers.

Big Jon moved to Horsham, Vic but yes he looked after us well in Alice when a car i was travelling with needed some bits to stop steering from the rear. Also found some mistakes made by the regular servicing people back in Perth.

I'd trust Suttons.

Not sure but I think the Karratha dealer is no longer. Someone else can probably confirm this, but I seem to recall a post...

Found it! http://www.aulro.com/afvb/general-chat/47503-karratha-landrover-closing-down.html

So may want to check.

Yep its a shame...Spoke with Lance a little while ago hes moved down to Perth...he was sick of LRA's poor service to Country Dealers...Long story but its a real shame...there was someone looking at getting the LR Dealership...LRA was up there looking a a suitable Dealership...

Suttons at Alice get my vote though I've not been to the other one you mention in WA. The guys at Suttons were very helpful when I pitched up in my truck needing to service it while on our trip around Oz a while back.

The dealer at Alice Springs is the Real Thing. :D:D:D

If I was buying another new Land Rover (read: Dream - V8 RRS) I would definitely buy it from the Alice Springs dealer - because I want him to be there - ALWAYS.

Take the new Defender there Kevin - they will look after you.

And does anyone know where Big Jon is - is he still on the site - my son needs his assistance re: V8 Disco - down Horsham way.

G'day All.

I don't get many opportunities to log on these days. My new job in mining exploration means I am out bush a lot.

I am sure Sutton Motors will still be able to look after your central Australia servicing needs. Just book a couple of weeks in advance, it gets very busy during tourist season.
