I've only recently got back from a week at straddie and need to find somewhere to clean all the sand @ salt @ ****e from under the truck. What i'm looking for is a pit i can drive over and give the underbody a good blast of cleansing fresh water and i'll look after the rest from there. Somewhere on Brisbane southside would be good as i live in Holland Park. Any recommendations please.

Good Question Rod,
I'm heading over there next weekend and like you don't know of a decent underbody wash place either. Normally go up the Noosa North Shore and use the one there on the bay back but form Straddie its a bit far!
The water restrictions have made it a bit hard for everyone.

Some people use a garden sprinkler. Turn the water on then drive over the sprinkler until the underbody is clean.

i wouldn't bother with the underbody wash places that you just drive over, they don't really do too much. i used one last time i went to Fraiser and it did bugger all. driving a series 3 i also got very wet feet  You are much better off driving it up onto a set of ramps one end at a time and attacking it with a Karcher. Failing that, just find a nice deep fresh water river crossing :p

That would be an interesting one in brissie seeing as your not allowed to use water:(
Alot of the car washes have an underbody blast when you drive in, I use the one in townsville, I drive backwards and forwards over it a few times before it switches off.
With your water restrictions I would invest in an electronic rust proofing device.

Amen to that. Underbody squirters aren't going to do much about the salt and sand on top of your chassis rails, fuel tank, springs, etc.
With water restrictions though, what about getting the under side waxed with Dinitrol or something. Keeps a good barrier against salt but sand still needs to be removed. Can reduce the number of times you actually need to get the hose out.
Otherwise, find someone with a dam and break out the water pump ;)

They are better than nothing if you dont have anything else;)

I always use the underbody wash at rainbow as it gets **most** of the sand and salt off.
However, here is a warning! Attached is a photo of my driveway after a big session with the hose. The lesson is that they get most but not all, so if you go over one of those and don't finish the job yourself you are asking for much pain. :(

That's what water tanks are for :D
our 25,000L tank filled up in a few weeks. now we don't know what to do with it all. I know, i'll start an underbody car wash :p

I've asked this question before, and unfortunately don't know of any in Brissy.
Your best bet is get a pressure sprayer, or even a Staun masojet.
You can run these from a tank or out of a bucket, so OK with water restrictions.
I always use the underbody spray at Rainbow or Noosa Nth shore, or wherever.
But I still don a poncho, goggles etc and get under the thing with a pressure sprayer when I get home. THere is always more sand coming out of crevices, chassis rails, etc.

With the Brisbane water restrictions the best I've been able to do is Car Lovers with the suspension in extended hight mode, then down on my hands and knees.
I also invested in electronic rust prevention when I bought the car.

There's no substitute for getting under the car with a sprinkler and I used to get under with the hose but in Brissie we cant.
The idea of a dam sounds good (if there is any water in them)
Looks like I'll have to put a tank in!

Or drive to one of your mates places on the gold coast that dont have water restrictions...........
Spend an hour or so with it over a sprinkler and sit inside watching the football, or the league, union, or AFL whatever takes your fancy.
You supply the beer ill supply the water and TV
