hey guys, just a few pics of my rig with the new tyres....

They stick out a fair bit so I'm gonna have to get some wider flares.. any idea on what I could do or where I could get some to suit ??? I was thinking of just making some spacers for inbetween the body and the original flares.. what do ya think ?

Have you got enough clearance for extreme angles, tight corners etc?

I've seen wider flares in UK not sure if you could source them locally. Not so sure about the spacers - may look a bit dodgy.

They do look good though:D

Yeh, took it out for a bit of a play today.... Doesn't scrub at all when turning but does hit the flares when its flexed up.

I am guessing your car isn't an Isuzu but just in case it is I'll ask the question.

Did you have any exhaust clearance issues with the tyres?

Mikey0211
20th April 2008, 06:18 PM
Nah dobbo... its not the isuzu... why do you ask??... dose the exhaust hit on the tyres on this model ???

any ways, I took off the original flares as they were scrubbing on the tyres.. I put on some rubber ones, this solved the scrubbing problem but the tyres are still hanging out too far...

Here is a few piccs

Due to the exhausts standard location, I cannot fit my Simex's on my Isuzu and keep the exhaust.

When I had 33's on my 110 I had flares on my flares
https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2008/08/724.jpg

No rubbing problems though, I had the 15X8 rims made with an offset to be the same as the original steel rims, the tyres tucked up into the guards nicely :D

surely there is a way to run the exhaust without going along the wheel arch?

No too tight,

Options

Cut and weld the bulkhead and floor

Weld some 3 inch crush tube run through the front outrigger and run it through that.

Cut off the exhaust at the front guard

Car will be at Lokka's Friday night, go have a look. Your welcome to suggest solutions.

No need to be as drastic as all that, IME there is only a slight interference (well with 285/75-16s or 255/85-16s - don't know about 33x15s on big offset rims), that can be fixed by cutting out the offending corner, and replacing it with one with 2 bends, to bring it further away from the tyre.

e.g.

(2 bends where there was only one before).

i have an isuzu county and run 35" tyres on 15x8. misses by miles. i cant even imagine where it would hit?

can you take a picture?

dobbo
7th May 2008, 07:26 PM
Passenger side front guard, standard 31inch tyres miss the exhaust by 30mm, therefore fitting my 33's will fowl the exhaust.

mines inside the chassis rails all the way to the back. goes into the LHR wheelarch though.

Any pictures from the engine bay and under the car?

Have you had to cut the bulkhead to make that fit. Not a lot of room in the engine bay for the pipe to run.

interesting photos, can you advise where the flex joint is? I assume it is beside the gearbox? certainly can't see one in all your photos...

From the inner guard there is a 45 angle that drops the pipe vertically, then a flexible joint, to help reduce vibrations (yeah right, it's an Isuzu) multiple angles bringing the pipe very close and parrallel to the front outrigger then 90 degrees and joins to the existing pipes.

Don't know if I have to loose the front mud flap due to the fact I have allready lost the front mud flap so I'm not sure if it would fowl it.

It's not pretty, but it works, and cheap. I was quoted more but a bit was knocked off when I paid cash and didn't need a receipt on a Friday arvo.

Illegal I am afraid. Exhaust exit must be behind the last opening door/window.

you think the dump pipe welds are bad, you should see the right hand engine mount :eek::eek: scary
