TD5 losing water.

Not sure if anyone can help but my TD5 Disco 2 is losing about a litre of water a week. There are two pools of water that appear under the vehicle when I park it. They are both around the centre of the vehicle near the back of the engine, although one is more to the passenger side and is cool water which I assume is coming from the A/C, I’ll assume this is normal??? The other is smaller and is slightly more to the driver’s side of the car, this water is warm to touch when it is one the ground.

Upon examination I found on the driver’s side of the engine a silver coloured cylindrical type object around about the size of a can of V, it has small hoses at each end that I assume carry coolant from the radiator. This drips water at the front and the rear and I’m hoping is the source of my leak. I say that because I can’t find any other leaks without booking it into a mechanic. Does anyone know what this part is called? Is it common? Is there a common/simple fix or does it require replacement?

IIRC - The TD5 Discos have a plastic radiator, which is prone to leaking.

O rings on the cooler. $1 for both. Try CBC etc. About an Hour of your time. As Bigjon suggests, BS226 is the Part#

Does anyone have any pics or instructions on this proceedure?

I replaced my radiator at Easter and all I did was bend the rubber hose up out of the way that attaches to the front of the cooler to gain some clearance.

Now that it's all back together I have slight weeping of the cooler :mad:

My D2 has only 145,000 k's on it so I don't think the cooler is corroded and the leaking has just moved to the next weakest link.

I think all I have done is upset the seating of the O rings and need to find a cheap solution that works.

It's becoming annoying :(

I'm with Feral on an appeal for instructions and pics.

I'm thinking of posting of photo of the object that is causing my grief so I'm sure I'm on the same page. I'll certainly attempt the repair once I'm confident I am on the same page.
