Fuel Gauge

my 86 range rover fuel gauge was working fine till i came back from a day trip on the weekend it now reads empty all the time .yes fuel is in it what could the problem be . did go trough mud hole. :):):)

Had similar symptoms on my old '82 model some years back :) - turned out to be a hole had formed in the float on the level sensor - which promptly filled up with fuel and no longer "floated". Wasn't a hard job to pull out the old sender and put in a replacement as it was mounted through the side of the tank. Not sure if it's the same on newer models though....
