i have 02 d2, without the cdl internals. while driving 10mins ago i noticed that when i put the brakes on the cdl-lock light would come on. i stopped and noticed that i no longer have brake lights, or reversing lights. didnt check indicators, although the fronts worked. taillights are fine.
anybody know what this would be? even funnier since u'd think that light would be disabled in my car!

I'd check your wiring loom above the front of the transfer case for some loose/damaged wiring perhaps shorting out. Even though your disco does'nt have the CDL internals the wiring loom still has the diff lock plug in place.

thanks. it was the fuse that had blown, but they dont blow without a reason... i've been for a short drive since and it hasnt happened again. I'll look for that wiring and see if theres any exposed bits.

i thought it sounded like a fuse but something must be shorting? was it you that ripped the cdl out or...?

If its a fuse associated with any thing through your trailer plug check the plug for a short (assuming you have one fitted).

the fuse was the brake light fuse. has the bracket type things around the light symbol. whether its on the same circuit, i dont know. been for another drive and still good. maybe an electrical spike??

This post reminded me of something.
I have an old 81 2 door that has been sitting in the driveway for sometime now. The battery has been flat for about 2 years, and the car hasn't been started for probably 6 months.
One cold morning I come outside and start the disco to drive to work. When I look up I see that the old 2 door has the parking lights on. Out of interest I checked the column switch and it was set to the off position... Go figure.
Battery flat, switch off, but lights on...
Prince of darkness, my arse...

If the 81 doesn't have a name, I'd name her Christine (from the movie of the same name)
