I had our car in for it's final warranty service yesterday. I picked it up and then had a browse of the yard (I as filling time before a dinner). I jumped in it at 6pm and drove off.

As soon as there was a little boost on there was this almighty roar from up front, and she was going like a slug. I glanced over at the nanocom and looked at the turbo pressure reading - 0. Had a look behind and I was covering everyone in smoke! :D :D

I couldn't pull over so I drove a couple of k into town (keeping it below 1500 - the smoke didn't seem too bad then). Once I'd picked a mate up with took the engine cover off and started looking. Found it was the top hose onto the intake manifold... they hadn't done up the hose clamp :D :D Luckily I had a few tools on board and got it fixed. I got in trouble for a dirty shirt when I got home though :(

So, if we look on other fora, we'll see the posts about another newish Land Rover that's dropped its guts! :p

Yep :D :D It looked a little bit like your car in your sig. The good thing about driving a defender is people can't tell how old they are so I think they just think its a really old one and back off so they can see through the smoke :D :D

I put my then new defender in to get it's first service and didn't get 5k down the road when it dumped all the coolant on the ground from a undone rad hose. Two years later I had the brake fluid changed and a pipe blew off and I burned the handbrake out stopping it.It got that hot it melted the grease out of the uni joint. Both times were very well known Sydney LR specialists. now you no why i have given up on the dealers.i have to many things to write here & bore you to sleep.i will give u a couple.....engine cover missing..twice,fuel cooler not bolted to engine, breather hose left off top of rocker cover, new power steering hoses fitted all twisted up & stretched&re rooted not corretly........& the list goes on.
i must admit lra were very quick to retify any of these problems & any other warranty issues.
if you look in the fine print in the vehicles manual you will see if you are not happy with a repair they will pick the vehicle up& fix it.
i have got them to do this more than once

also in 10 years & 3 newdiso td5s have never had a breakdown:)......so far.......touch wood...
