The guy I used to work for in Canberra does a lot of Bartecard. He's in the comms game, ie. Telephones etc. If you want his details PM me. I still see a lot of him.

This is where you'll be introduced to the bartercard system. I have a service which I accept bartercard $ (like a credit card) - I put the BC dollars in a "bank account" - then I go and spend my $ with someone selling another service or good. Works if you're careful.....
So-I'm a vet... sell a service... say a vaccination... trade dollars into my trade account... then I buy something ala security monitoring, painting, restuarants, car hire, accomodation .. even buy real estate.....

Exactly...... there are a few cowboys out there, but all in all I've done ok with it. At work I have security, painting, web hosting, some phone, printing, printer laser refills, ... personal: food, motels, car hire, deposit on real estate, tree felling, roof painting, clothing, surf gear, bike parts and sports goods.....
I've joined Empire Trading (as well as BC) and they have less fees and allow variable % of cash to trade $ - yet to see how it works....

No problem at all...pretty simple really... I use quickbooks - easy. The trade $ appear as any other money and you pay ATO in 'real' $. The real $ are made up of real money saved when you are trading well.....

I worked for Bartercard for 5 years until 2006. I ran one of the company owned brokerages in Brisbane so you could say I am an expert on the system.
My advise after years of watching people fail and succeed is:
Spend the credit line first on things that you need and then pay it back with your product or service. If your account is in the positive with your trade dollars than you have spent your cash to earn them and therefore effected your cash flow. If your account is always in the negitive then you have spent Bartercard's trade dollars and saved your cash therefore you have saved your cash flow.
Do this and you can never go wrong.
Feel free to PM me if you want more indepth advise.

I find that Perth is having a hard time moving the barter around. Too much work here, No one has spare time for the barter stuff (trade / labor base). Can't eat anymore restaurant grub.
All i want is a Sparky, they answer there phones and just chew up my mobile phone money with stories of woe at the moment.
Oh well, one of them has to give in soon :p

I dont know what it is like nowdays but 12/13 years ago when BC first came about in Melb the boss at the time gave it a go and found that everyone wanted what we had but nobody had what we wanted so we ended up with plenty of BC cash but nowhere to spend it.
I'd be assuming that there would be more traders now so that wouldnt be so much of a problem anymore.
It is interesting to see that it is still going as he said it would be lucky to see out a year at the time.

Mike 90 RR,
Maybe if you ask the sparky what he wants to spend his trade dollars on and then help him find it he will do the work you need done.
I helped a client build a 72 square home with about 50% of it on Bartercard using this method. For example: the roofer wanted a boat so I went and found him a boat on trade which he bought and then did all the roofing on the house full trade. Similar situation with the tennis court. Thge tennis court builder needed a car for his daughter. We found it he boughgt it and then did the tennis court at nearly full trade.
Your trade coordinator is there to use for these purposes. If you build a good relationship with your trade coordinator (TCO) they are any good then you can get a lot of benefit.
Ask you TCO if they have a sparky on the books. If they do then get them to put a deal together because it is in their interests to do a deal between their clients.
My client who I helped build the house treated me really well. He called me every day. Gave me tips on who was trading. Was always really nice to me and therefore I alweays went out of my way to help him. He ended up saving himself several hundred thousand in cash building his house all done on BC credit (T$200,000 credit limit) and his cost of trade dollar to pay it back was about 15c + fees.
We are still good friends today and speak every week.
Personally I would probably not use BC unless I had a low coist of trade dollar. But if you work the system it can really work for you.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for that info.
In Perth, they have been doing a bit of a "clean out" of members (putting it politely). A new owner has taken over and is currently trying to change things
I love the response i got tho, when i missed paying fees, Instead of a letter of demand, i got a letter asking me if all is OK & is there anything they could do if i am unhappy. Most surprised was i, (compare that to what a bank would do to you) . (have paid my fees)
Anyway, I am not stressed over all this at the moment / I've got other fish to fry / Barter will come into it's own use later on ...:)
However: Any rangie products on Barter?? :D :p
