Does anyone what these shows?

WhiteD3
3rd May 2008, 05:54 AM
No. But the other 3 members of my family seem to think that entertainment means watching idiots allowing others to make them look even stupider than what they really are.

You forgot "Biggest Loser". The show where even fat people are allowed to make fools of themselves.

"So you think you can dance"? For "artists" with a sob story to tell.

There's other shows but I get them confused....

There are better uses for oxygen.

I don't watch Big bro. But I like Ramsays Kitchen. Not a fan of hells kitchen though-it's utter rubbish.

I find it hard to swallow thinking ramsays is just another reality tv show. I think you will find it is his personality in that show and he doesn't do any thing more because it is on tv. I suppose what he may get because it is on tv is more money to deck out the restaurants etc.

I agree with others, Ramsey is the best thing on TV in the kitchen format.
The Hells Kitchen is just a reality tv show, actors as the customers, set ups galore. Not interested.

I think he is a bloody genius at the biz, and learn stuff about restauranteering(?) every show I watch with his other format.

Cant stand BL or BB or others mentioned.

Haven't watched Ramsey's Kitchen so can't really comment on it, however, I don't really like cooking shows in general so probably will not watch it ....

I'll admit I watched probably the first few episodes of BB when it first airedthe first series). I gave it a chance and I hate the show with a passion, so much so that I even turn the adds off when they come one.

In fact, was just enjoying the news on TV when a BB add came on and i nearly threw up.

The sooner this crap is off the TV the better. It's going that bad that they had to get a couple of d grade idiots to host it ..... I HATE IT :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

Yeah, point taken, I guess it is sort of the same as (at a stretch) Top Gear. My other half is not really into vehicles and stuff but she enjoys Top Gear as it is not all about the car ........ she sees the funny side to it all to .....

Might give Ramsay a go then .......

Right, it isn't about recipes!
It's about the restaurant business.

What he does is take a down & out business and put it back on the rails again

His theory of how he does this can be applied to all business

I see his message as::

Find your flaws
Keep it simple
Offer the quality

but more importantly:: "Get your message out" to the right people that you want to deal with, Don't sit home waiting for them to come to you.

Why on earth is Big Brother still on? What a pathetic show. I also don't mind Ramsay's kitchen, though I must say I'm starting to get pretty bored with it... same old, same old!

As for Biggers Loser, not my favourite show. Good on them that they're making an effort to lose weight, but once again, been done to death. Sure as hell doesn't seem to make any difference with all the obese people I come across in the city all the time. Interestingly enough, they are mostly women. Also interesting, never see Asians overweight.

God I wish we had the discovery channel. Used to have it but found it too expensive & the amount of time I'm at home, hardly got to watch it anyway.

When you have good look at it
The only show that really has any balls is "Underbelly"
The way it was produced was just exellent, All the characters suited the role
(shame it had to be a real story to inspire the writers)

All the other shows where created via the "Popular point of view"... "sell only whats popular and make sure you jump on the band wagon"

Absulooootley boring

Good part though, Gets me off the telly and out in the bush

Too true! Great show. Roberta Williams should have sold ringtones: "Answer yer F*** phone C*** B*** "

And yet, I haven't seen Ramsey's Kitchen, but did see one episode of Hell's Kitchen where he opens up and swears black and blue at somone for no real reason. If he tried that in an Aussie workplace, he'd be in court so quick.:nazilock:

I suppose the fans of Ramsay must see something in the show that I haven't been able to pick up from the promos and from the brief parts I have seen while changing channels.

All I have ever seen is someone whose management skills consist of insulting and humiliating people and whose communication skills are so poor that he has to resort to boringly repetitive obscenities to make his point.

He may have some good qualities, but I have more important things to do with my life than subject myself to his self agrandisement in an attempt to discover what they are.

No one has mentioned that Hells Kitchen is a repeat

The Nine Network are saturating their audience with Gordon Ramsay just like the Seven did with Rex Hunt some years ago..

We still watch it for the laughs and tantrums and often think what lies behind the kitchen doors of the eateries we frequent..

As for BB, TBL, ACA, RSPCA, RPA, IMT, NRL, MTV, GMA, ACP, CSI, BTN, and NCIS....never watch em.........

Firstly I am pretty sure the courts would not bother hearing a case where only swearing was involved and it was the first time. Even if the employee complained it would have been resolved by a mediator initially.

And nothing to do with PC'ness. Just because you pay someone does not give you the right to physically and/or verbally abuse the person. And any decent manager knows that it is the most pointless way of improving someone's performance.

Yep, I watch too much TV really at the moment, MASH in the after noon before the house work, Scrapheap Challenge after dinner and Ramsay, the rest of the stuff is what Amanda wants to watch and I normally then sit on this thing and annoy you lot :D

As far as Rex Hunt's cooking show goes, I remember that, pitty he cant cook :o, is not that much of a business man and is generally an arogant rude ex footballer who lives of his contacts and not his tallent IMHO

By the way, Im not a Rex Hunt fan and yes I have met him on several occasions and they were not in the profesional arena and even in public (but not on camera) he would make Ramsay blush with his swearing around women and children.

We all had a nick name for him but the swear filter will filter it to *** **** *** *** **** :D or just TOC for short.

I too enjoy Ramsey's shows. It is amazing how many people make the mistake of "buying" themselve's a job. Happens all the time in all sorts of business.

It also often shows how someone can be so set on what they "think" people want that they become blind to everthing around them. Again quite common in business.

Having worked in kitchens (thank fully nothing like these!) and having seen some "chefs" in action it is the only thing they understand. And at the end of the day he has built himself an empire globally and does very well for himself (and was not handed to him. Originally he wanted to play soccer professionally. He's also not ashamed to admit he made mistakes in the past, not just in business either.)

Have to agree with the BB etc what junk and well said about Rex, unlike Ramsey he was just a footballer but of course in this country if you were even a "might be" AFL player you can make money.... How many car yards are they responsible for???

For entertainment have to admit I do like GNW, NCIS and House.

i don't watch any of those shows on the commercials....maybe i'm a snob ( the kid's love ém, but honestly, i think they're damaged in some way )....but...HONESTLY, the drivel served up by the commercial channels is, in my honest opinion, ideal for 12 year olds, or the terminally bored....( yeah, yeah, we'll watch ANYTHING, just put it on......)....sometimes i watch the abc and/or "sex before sleep" (s.b.s.), but that's about it....and as for sports....don't even get me STARTED....( i LOATH "sport ", thank you....)...( goes of muttering something crude about olympic games bull-****)....., whoops..., errr,...sorry to offend any-one .....

What about Norman Gunstan any one remember him

i LOVED Norman Gunston because he was as big a gormless idiot as i am,... yet still made the beautiful-people he interviewed look even SILLIER than they actually were....a RARE talent, being able to "take-the-****"out of the high and mighty so cleverly ,...., a talent not evident in today's sycophantic interviewers (with the exception of Andrew Denton, of course...)....if EVER a show was aptly named, it's THAT one...."Enough Rope", ha ha.....BRILLIANT....:D

yep good thread,,,I must be becomoing a grumpy old man. These shows...big brother the worst..then survivor...then home and away and neighbores...followed by most other shows on commercial television seem to have a goal of dumbing us all down to the level of pathetic gossips who live to find out whose r&&ting who. ..if I by consensus need to watch a commercial channel I am also consigned to advertising that that also assumes I am a total moron and has lost any control of ethical content. I have at time found ramsay entertaining but it is now so formulaic that it is no longer. Long live sbs and abc and dvds of choice. I feel better now.

No they are utter tripe.
Ramsay gets my goat, if he spoke to me like that when I was cooking he would have been flat on his back. I had a French Chef speak out of turn to me as an apprentice and he was told quietly in no uncertain terms he was warned and would not get away with it again. Led to a nice discussion with the apprenticeship board that I was triumphant at.

Also as bad if not worse, Summer Heights High and it won a Logie. Very poor taste and so not funny.
Rove Live is another. What is people with so called comedy that is not even funny, just about being sarcastic and putting people down.
