Hey just wondering how hard it would be to track down a stock landrover diesel motor for a series 3 1977 lwb landrover. I was keen on doing the 202 red motor conversion and ended up getting the adapter plate and 202 red motor but i sought of got cold feet on putting that in. Firstly because i tried putting the starter motor in and the motor has to be cut out a bit because of the adapter plate that i have is off a 179 motor and i thought they were all the same. But im thinking that i would be better off with the diesel motor because my landrover isnt a daily driver id mainly be using it for off road so i was thinking the diesel would be better suited for me.
Thanks in adavance Michael

I didn't have any problem tracking one down when I converted mine. The 2.25D is a great little motor for puttering round in the bush.

Yep, no room for 3 Landies and a horse float in the yard so it must go. I've been meaning to put it on Ebay but people keep saying yep they're interested so I don't. 'Tis a vicous circle.

Might be able to come up with a deal here...

Im looking at buying dobbos rover for some bits that I need that are on his vehicle and in good condition...

the diesel engine is one of those bits that are in good condition but I dont need it.

If your prepared to work with me on costs Im prepared to haul the donk out palletise it (with exhaust, most of the front and a few other bits and pieces) so it can be shipped to your door OR if your in brissy I'll even deliver it or for a few more $$ install it then recover the vehicle to your location for you to finish it off.

Ive done a very little bit of work on his vehicle to get it to the point where it will self start and stop (with a new battery) and Ive looked at what hes asked me to and what Im interested in.

ID be lying if I said it was the best little 2.25 diesel Ive ever seen but its a long shot from the worst one Ive seen that still runs.

drop pms to me or dobbo and we can work something out.

Yeah were do most people look for there motors and that besides the quokka. Im not having very much luck finding one. If anyone noes were i could get a 2.25 litre diesel in perth it would be greatly appritiated.

I rebuilt the bottom end and valves and got change from $1K But I got lucky and most of the engine was inspec or very close to it so it wasnt a super huge effort do get it done.

I might consider selling my engine for the right money. I am in Perth. You are welcome to come and have a drive.

Pull the vacuum butterfly off, you will gain about 10 extra horsepower.

Thank you, I have worked very hard on it, I have a diesel engine sickness (I have five) in various stages of condition and I am always looking for parts to get them complete. Any bits would be great.

Ahh, OK. Certainly looks concourse. Well done.

Btw - you don't have PN's for the fan and water pump do you? And any idea what they cost.
