Hi Guys;
talking to one of our club members tonite who owns a 2-door disco , he is running 255/85R/16 BFG MT's on his 2 door , he happened to mention Rangie spares in Melb and says he bought the Flare Kit from there , has anyone bought any Flare kits from Rangie spares for a D1 & do you know if there is a Flare kit that would suit all different size tyres , or are there different flare kits available depending what tyre size you want to run on a Rangie or disco? Is there such a thing as a 33" flare kit or a 35" Flare Kit.
thanks in advance.

The 33" flare kit, is all they used to sell and used to be to suit 35":D, until they made the 35" flare kit;)

They're also now called Les Richmond Automotive
These are the 33' flares (for 35's with a 2"body lift and spring lift)

I am also looking at buying the flare kit (for 33's) soonish, has anyone any experience in fitting these....are there any real problems with the kit or fitting them.
The front would be the easiest as they are a one pieceflare, but I am guessing that the back ones would be a bit harder given they are a 2 piece flare cause of the doors.
any advice appreciated :D

Do a rear door first of all, it'll take you hours:D then everything else is easy.........always do the hardest job first
I've fitted heaps now, 1mm cutting discs are your friend, I bought a nibbler to do it years ago, but just use the grinder now:eek:

Are these a square type flare with exposed fixing screws or a rounded type flare with concealed fix. As I am interested in a flare similar in style only to factory rubber but in glass/poly that have concealed fixings and cover a larger wheel and cut gards. Have seen them but do not know if they were custom made or available to purchase. Any help appreciated. My Disco 2dr series 1.:)

I have a set of the glass fibre flares on my Disco 3 door. As easy as they are to fit I wish I'd have gone for the flexible ones now.
The fibre glass flares are very brittle and if you do any off roading against trees, branches etc I think they would crack quite easliy.
Just tighening the screws makes you sweat with the thought of doing them up too much!
The flexible arches in the UK are the same price as the fibre glass ones.

The only curved ones i have seen were the dress type with no cutting required or custom made ones or off another vehicle.

Looks like you got an answer. Sorry but I don't get to my PC on Fridays & Saturdays.
There are a few more companies making them...far cheaper than Scorpian Racing. Google would come up with a few suppliers as would a few of the other UK forums.
If I see the ads I'll certainly put up a link.
BTW. The ones on my Disco are fibre glass...not flexibles. Once these break I'll not get them again. Too dammed expensive for a few feet of matting and resin.
Regards.

I emailed paddock spares in the UK, they sell a similar flare. The flares are $350 (oz dollars) or 165 pound. I am just waiting for a quote on freight to here....I dont reckon it will be over $330...so I might just hold off a group buy at this stage ;)

D1 Flares for 5 door;
Shorty are you able to confirm if they are suitable for 35x12.5 tyres ?

no worries, I will get the specs from them ie how wide, how much to chop out of the guard so we know what size tyre they fit over.

If your still talking about the Paddocks flares, I organised a group buy a while ago when paddocks weren't offering them.
Just watch the shipping it WILL be 120 or so pounds.
The aus dollar is better but I doubt you will get them here for under $500aus each.
They other thing to note is that you cannot send them via AUS post.
Commercial courier is the only way to go, and unless you have a good business account then it will cost ~$50 to $100 just to post them around Aus.
If you are keen, look at importing amongst people that are central.
BTW flares will fit 37's (they where sold to fit 37'' maxxis crawlers)
Mine are 50mm wide.
They are big and will suit any tyre you can fit under a Disco / Rangie without doing inner guard mods (ie 37+)
Seriously do the maths for a few scenarios. Ie 2 sets 5, sets 10 sets ect.
I found that I was worse off getting 10 sets then 2.
5 even worked out the same as 2 for me but anyway.
Do what ever.
Cheers
Dave.
