I have recently had a strange occurrance with my audio system. A CD froze the whole unit, no buttons would work, would not turn off, even taking the key out would not do anything. The display lights were stuck on and nothing else happened. It wasnt until I left the car for a few hours, then restarted it, that the unit would turn off. Then I could eject the CD.
1) Is there a way of resetting the system if this happens?
2) Has this happened to anyone else?
3) Any info on Why this happened?
Thankyou.

I had a similar issue when I first got mine. After going to Car Lovers and (I think) spraying the high press jet into the engine bay from the wheel well, all the audio and trip computer controls/displays were frozen.

Following advice from AULRO members, I disconnected both leads from the battery and shorted them together for 10 seconds. I think this basically resets what is actually just a computer system.

Never had a recurrence of the problem.

Cheers.

This is a common issue. Normally a battery disconnect/reconnect will provide a fix but if it's persistant, a download might be required.

If you visit a dealer, mention the problem & they'll perform a Front Audio Module download for you.

Hi,
I have had similar problems to this as well. Sometimes resetting software fixed the problem for a while. I have had the Audio system totally replaced twice now. No problems since the last replacement, over a year now.

The dealer in Wollongong has replaced 13 audio units in the last month. He says there's a problem with the current unit. And he's only a small dealer.

Peterpam, are you aware if this is just restricted to the audio system? My bluetooth failed a couple of weeks ago, although the radio/Cd seem to still be working fine. Due at the dealers on Friday for fix under warranty.

I think someone is pulling you're leg here. From where I sit, I can tell that he hasn't done one since March (unless it's in the last couple of weeks).

That's what he told me on Friday. I'm not sure whether the bluetooth is in the same system.

Peter,

Tried the suggestion of disconnecting the battery mentioned earlier and lo and behold operations returned to normal. Cancelled the visit to the dealer.
