righto,, I dont pretend to know exactly WHAT we need,,

but I know WHERE to ask,,,;)

the thought is (currently) to split the loads,
which means running TWO servers.

which means we need to source a second one.

anybody replacing high end servers?

Hi,

I'm affraid I can't help with supplying an old server, but you might be able to get a cheap one from these guys:

Macquarie Technology Services (http://stores.ebay.com.au/Macquarie-Technology-Services)

They sell ex-lease servers via their eBay store. I've dealt with them before and the goods/service are very good. They don't seem to have anything listed at the moment, but it might be worth sending them an email.

Other then that, I'd check eBay for a rack mount server. There are usually quite a few capable machines going for under $1000. I'm sure there'd be members here willing to inspect them on your behalf if you wanted to see the goods before you bought them too.

Once again, sorry I can't help with sourcing a server, but I hope some of these ideas are useful.
