Help!
I under went the knife on Monday :(, I had the boys set free, disconnected, live bullets made safe, shooting blanks, talking in a higher voice, all the other ways to say I had a vasectomy!
The opperation didn't start well with the sedation injection missing the vein and going into my elbow , they didn't realise though until the surgeon started working downstairs and I went as stiff as a board with the pain ;).
Things are realy tender and sore still, the inscisions have been left to close for themself, no stitches or anything, I presume this is normal for this procedure? My meat and two veg is now the colour of my Disco's oil.
Please tellme this is all normal and let me have a laugh at your stories:blush:. I remember the surgeon squeeving my left one realy hard, it is now twice its normal size, do they do that just because they can or did they read my private health and see it was Police Health and thought I'll get this *****.
Yours in extreme pain Andy.

Mate, I can feel your pain just by reading your story, haven't had the snip yet, but my brother did and he had no dramas.
However, a mate of mine at work had the chop and he couldn't touch them for a week, even in the shower he reckons he could only point water at them to wash'em ....
On a side note, mid last year I had a viral infection in the left aggot, blew up like to the size of a pear, bad bad bad pain. Missus took me to hospital and i had to carry my boys into the ED, spent 2 days in hospital floating around on morphine, that was the only good thing about it. Pain actually lasted for about 9 days before it went completely ..... oh the humanity .....

Had one years ago. No pain, healed very quickly, no stitches or tape same as you, hardly any swelling. Worst bit was shaving, and the wife insisting on coming in to watch the whole thing and making sarky comments to the doctor and nurse while there. :D

Sounds alien to me.
About 10 years ago for me, less than 20 minutes from walking in the door to walking out.
1 stitch, basically no pain, a bit tender but no need for pain killers.
Walked up the shops same day and the next.
Round my motorcycle within days.
All good.
The best bit, I came back from my follow up check up with a doctors 'prescription' for 40 nights of passion. Really cracked the missus up, actually worked for the first few days.

I too have been neutered, but unlike your poor self, underwent general anaesthetic (no tough guy chair job for me) and had little post op discomfort and zero complications.
Except for the falsetto voice and the fact I feel like I have no soul and that the best bit of me is gone, I feel fine:p!

When I had the chop it was done by injecting the anaesthetic into the area locally. (so 2 injections)
Even looked down and saw the 'tubing' he was cutting...
Got 1 stitch in each and then hopped up, got dressed (tight boxers)... And went home...
1 piece of advice...
I was determined to make sure the rest still worked... ;)
Dont test the tackle an hour later or your nuts will look like canonballs

One of my sales rep. had the clip at a prominent Brisbane private hospital and got golden staph. in the incision. Talk about footballs. His caring, sensitive colleagues found an enormous right hand thread castellated nut from a dozer, painted it Mustang Yellow (he was the Mustang specialist rep) sent it to the hospital with a spare parts dept shortage note indicating nil stock of the left hand nut. Nurses were highly amused.

Haven't had it done, but a mate reckoned he needed a shopping trolley to carry his nuts around in for a few days :eek:

I'm with Loanrangie on this one, having read this it certainly isnt helping to muster up the courage. Having had the 4th child...5th child between me and my partner, she has said no nookie until snip snip. Now I dunno which way to turn:angel::confused:. Though I am a complete woos when it comes to this sort of thing, so would be general for me...dont want to know, hear, feel about it, just knock my lights out and got to work,

For any of those considering male sterilisation, don't be a wimp.
Local anesthetic should be good enough and carries lesser risk than a general for a start.
My theory is the surgeon has to be more careful while you are awake.
My first hand experience plus feedback among those I know; the only negative has been a bit of bruising and minor pain.
Just book in an do it.

Had mine done in the family planning clinic spring hill. Full knock out, nice comfy chair, tea and biscuits when I woke up. No probs, felt a bit weird for a while, best thing I EVER DID. Go along with the the leave it a while thing though. Didn't wait myself. CANNONBALLS. Other than that, bring it on I'm read to star in a movie.

I recon it would be fairly normal practice as 2 of my mates have had it done and both were back at work after a couple of days but were a bit tender and said they were pretty black.
Well my nuts are still nice and black from the Angiogram but back to nearly normal size.
Ive been back into hossy for some anti inflamitories and stronger pain killers (stronger than Panadine Forte) due to the conjealed blood that came from the wound (where they went in for the Angiogram) that ran down into the ball sack was pressing on some nerves meaning that I was in severe pain until yesterday.
So had an ultrasound yesterday and the pain is easing greatly today but they dont stich up the artery either, seems to be the way to go these days.

Had it done yonks ago. Now that was one strange medical combo.
First off, I'm up on the table with my shackle on display and the Sister comes in and says .... "Just a little pr**k" :o:mad:
The I notice this beaten copper plaque up on the wall upon which is embossed ......... "When ya got'm by the balls .. their hearts and minds will follow"
And the Doc had an Irish understudy who was learning the ropes to take back the the emerald isle.
All in all a somewhat uneventful, but none the less, unusual experience. :D

Sorry for you pain
Only thing I have had down there was an ultrasound.
Poor young nurse was as embarrased as I was while she did it.

It is a pity we males are not smart enough to have it done before we get married. Think of all the money we could have saved and spent on other things (Like Landrover accessories). The wife could have kept her pre children bikini figure, stayed on working providing that nice two income stream and we would not be forced to take holidays in the "School Holidays" so we could camp where ever we wanted without the bookings or the crowd. ;)
Be brave you guys who have not had it done.
Life is so good when the kids leave home. :D

Andy,
You are doing well.
When I had mine done in 1984, they used a general anesthetic. The as**hole Doctor who did it, missed one cord so the offending "Goolie" shot up to the groin, then the so called surgeon then slashed a 40cm cut along the side, to get at it.
After that he put "X" amount of stitches in there and sewed the skin to the lifting gear!!! Three weeks later I had to go back and have another cut to get the stitch out and a few more put back in.
I was really angry, the Doctor was an Indian hired by the Military in Sydney and I was "Army".
I had two black baseballs for three months.
In your case, I'd be happy :D

When I had the plumbing done, I took Friday off work. On the way to the Drs' surgery picked up a few videos, walked in, two local injections, hobbled out 30 mins later, went home watched videos until Sunday on the lounge with the feet up. Went back to work Monday. :)
I did get a scare one morning when I saw a stitch lying in the shower base, I thought the dusters were going to fall out..

For any of those considering male sterilisation, don't be a wimp.
Studies conducted show that vasectomies breech the blood testis barrier. The body then detects the ingress of sperm into the blood and sends out antibodies to kill them off, and these antibodies can then cross the blood brain barrier and cause early onset of dementia.

Hope things are getting better!
I had a hernia that I didn't get looked at for about 4 years..... (it only caused pain if I over did things!) until it strangulated
After several shots of morphine and the er doc couldn't manipulate it back they booked me in to have it done. Op was fine (Don't remember a thing LOL) except waking up YUCK!
Then a few days in hospital, the surgeon explained there was considerable damage due to it being left so long and needed more than just the usual mesh reinforcing. I kept spiking a fever etc but was glad to go home. That ngt in bed feeling a little sorry for myself (I had only been married 6 months at this stage and found out we were having twins a few days before going in) my wife who is restless in her sleep kicked me straight in the groin and tore it open. THAT hurt like hell!

Don't be blinkered here Rob, there are other just as successfull methods which don't involve a knife
Two bricks:o
A stout rubber band:eek:
Burdizzo (look that up!):( (yes I have seen them used)
See, many alternatives....:D:D:D:D

Thanks for all the support and great stories, I have lokked at the Burdizzo method, i'm glad I didn't take that option .
"The burdizzo is a device that is intended to be used to castrate goats, or cattle. It works by crushing the vas deferens and the blood supply to the testicles. The testicle dies quicker than the body can repair the damage caused by crushing. The dead testicle then is re-absorbed into the body and the eunuch is left with a couple lima-bean sized lumps in his scrotum."
Lefty is now almost back to normal size, the right one has swollen a bit but not as bad as lefty. Black is the new colour scheme down there, makes things look bigger I'm told.
Still some pain, can't tie my shoes without sharp pains, ouch!. I have a training day on Wednesday in thje boat, I am hoping for flat sea's.
Cheers Andy. :D

I remember it as if it was yesterday. I was building our house at the time, so took a day off after the op, then back up and down the ladder all the next day putting the roof on. Not a good move. Spent the next 2 days hardly able to walk.:(
Amused the missus of course.

Hi Andy, when I had mine done the receptionist gave me some paper work to fill in (just some question to see if I knew what I was getting into etc.) I then went into the surgery and spoke to the Dr. (same questions again) He then told me to strip from the waist down, which I did. It was about this time that the receptionist walked in. Boy it's hard to look "cool" in the nuddie from the waist down. Any way, the best advice I can give is to put a pillow on your lap when you sit down, especially if you have young kids.
All the best from FEDPOL
