I'm in the middle of fitting lifted springs to my disco, now should i use the rubber seats that fit on top of the springs or leave them out ?

Leave them in, it makes the ride smoother and quieter, thats why they are there to start with;)

usually they do fit, just a bigger hammer or fit them and let the car weight put them into place

All depends on the wire thickness of the coils if you can get them on.Left mine out of the D2 despite trying to modify them there was no way they would fit the new springs.
Made no difference noise or harshness wise.

i never put myn in
regretting it a little as my left spring for some reason would pop out at the rear on full artiulation.......we couldn't figure out why but when i got talking to people at cooma looks like i wasn't the only one....
one guy said he actually cured his by putting them top AND bottom at little bit extra was enough to stop the spring coming out of its bracket/locator at the top

I doubt they would hold the springs in as they actually space the top spring seat lower down so less of the jagged shape locator is in contact.

If you cant get them plasticy bits to go in you can cushion the spring with bits of old bike tube. It helps stop the clanking sound of the springs on full articulation and fretting of the metals but thats about it.

yeh one fitted on myn but the other wouldn't go anywhere near saying that i was advised if i had of fitted them then once the coil had been compressed the isolator would of dropped into place.......wasn't going to take it all apart to find out
got to buy me self some more now and give it another go:)

well what can i say he said since he has done it his spring no longer pops out
but i dont see why you think it wouldn't unless i just dont really understand what your saying
because by putting them in it effectivly ads length to the coil (be it only a little) in doing so i would of thought that at full articualtion now there would still be some spring left up in the locator thingy making it less likely for the spring to pop out.

I see what you were getting at, i thought you meant that they were holding them in but its only a 10mm rubber cushion on a steel ring. I left mine out and unless there is a really good reason to pull the springs out i'll just keep them in the shed. I dont think i'll have problems with springs popping out, although the toughdog says they are 35mm lift, they look more like 3" to me - my bullbar is at waist height and i'm 5'8".
