Gday everyone...anybody know where i would be able to pick up some Defender body panels ??
any places on the mainland deal in that sort of thing ??
Iam looking at a 130 and its bloody rough in the body..wouldn't mind (if i get it) replacing the front passengers side guard and drivers side rear door.
Cheers Adrian

Apart from the door handles, would'nt the door be same as a County?
I'm fairly sure the guard never changed from the series 2 &3 .,

the thickness of the metal is certainly different... older = thicker...

The panels you mention are interchangeable from 110 through to current Defender although there are detail differences even withing Defenders. The mudguards are NOT interchangeable between 90/110/Defender and Series 2/2a/3, because the inner guard structure is different and the wheel is further back on the coil spring Landrovers, although it is probably possible to modify the Series 3 (or the 2a with headlights in guard) with a bit of ingenuity and metal working skills. The rear door is interchangeable from Series 2 to current, but you probably want to stick to a match to what you have, and there have been few changes since 1987.

Second hand doors are in demand due to rust, but it could be worth trying some of the specialists such as Four Wheel Drives in Melbourne, Land Vehicle Spares or All Four x 4s in Newcastle, and also worth trying your local "recycled parts" specialist who is in on a country wide network.

The mudguard will be more of a problem, as this is usually the first bit to get damaged, and finding a good second hand one is unlikely, although you never know. Note that it is in two parts - do you need both?

Both parts should be available new from the Landrover dealers, or the places suggested above. The mudguard should not be too expensive, but the door will be (and this will be reflected in second hand prices!).

UK suppliers are another possibility - see any of the UK Landrover magazines.

But I would start by putting a wanted ad in the Markets section here - you never know your luck!
