Just put reconditioned auto in s1 discovery. Goes into gear ok but revs hard as though it's slipping and really flares going into third. When adjusting the kick-down cable, set the outer cable to w/s manual specs but my new cable doesn't have the crimped bit on the inner. Anybody suggest any adjustments before I take it back to the reconditioner? Oil level is right as is the shift linkage.

The cable has to have tension on it in the throttle off position.
Mine is set in the second hole from the furthest outward hole and I set it by disconnecting it so there is a gap of about 3mm from the holes lining up and then pull on the cable and fit the pin and clip it over and lock into place.
Or you can just adjust it and feel the tension on the cable.
There is an actuall measurement but Im not sure what it is I think it is 5mm +/- 1mm but ive found the approx meathod has worked for me.
