Now I can't remember the profile name, but I know I saw this fender at the 60th Convoy to Currumbin. Was at Morningside this morning and you were at the lights, I gave a big wave.....and no response :p. Pfft and here I thought fender drivers were the "waviest" of the lot :D. I was in the grey D2,

Got 7 waves in one 20 minute drive today in Sydney .. Many'a'defenders around!

Mrs ho har:D Arrr, there you go, and first I thought it might have been yourselves as a red fender sticks out a mile away but noticed the number plate and knew it wasn't. I'd give my right doovalack to be out and about in WA or the NT in the next 7 weeks...but alas with a newborn, 4 other kids and a business to run, I'd have as much chance as seeing elephants fly :). And as for those smug answers from you other Fender lot, kiss my grits :p,

D2's are considered to be girly cars when they're in standard trim.
As for the original Freelander, It's has the makings of a goodlooking car, shame it's just plain crap.

At Waterford I waved at a defender today as he was getting out and he looked straight at me as if I was not there :( It must be the Disco thing but then I in my rearview mirror noticed him looking at me :o so go figure. He still didn't wave :(

How true.... we can describe this scientifically:
Defender to Defender = Always a wave (if it's not a "workman" vehicle or military)
Defender to Series = Always a wave
Series to Series = Always a wave. And probably stop and talk about oil leaks, rusty bulkheads and that.
Defender to Disco = Unlikely as Defender not expecting it. And disco too busy with the kids/labrador etc.
Disco to Disco = unknown (help here ?)
Defender to Rangie = Unlikely to happen. Although sometimes jealous looks from Rangie driver, through Armarni sunglasses.
Defender to Forward Control = probably stop, get out and have a chat
Forward Control to Forward Control = probably stop, chat about fuel consumption, have dinner, marry etc
Rangie to Rangie = Er no.

I'll keep my eye out for you. I set off from Perth on 21st June, head straight for Broome and then east into the Kimberley. We won't be spending too much time on the GRR but will be dropping south to check out the Mornington wildlife sanctuary/Bungles area. Will probably head further east into the NT around Victoria River area but not further east than Top Springs, then back to Broome for some RnR mid July. We'll be in a Defender Wagon and Trayback
I always log Defender sightings. Bumped into Noddy in Broome once but did not know it was him. Just complimented him on his Defender and left him to his breakfast.

Well girly car, I thought at first was a little harsh, but at the moment am borrowing a mates highly modified D2 as we are down one car and yes mine next to that looks a little woosy . It will be de woosed over the coming months, apparently I'm not allowed to use the baby bonus for mods :o.
When I had the D3, I waved a bit, rarely got a wave back, sometimes from other D3 owners. Have given the nod a few times in the D2 to no avail but thought with a Fender driver would have definately got a wave...maybe he was too shocked :),

Always amused at the putdown freelanders get , Had mine since new 1999xedi, got 150000ks on , it has been all over WA from top to bottem , never been prevented from going anywhere that i wanted to go including following river beds in the Pilbara looking for gold . It has never let me down , it receives it services and regular maintenance and sometimes preventertive maint. So far so good touch wood !!! , Had quite a few 4x4 in my time and cant say my freeby is any better or worse Than any other vehicle i have owned . Must be just lucky i supose:)

If thats the case, what does that make a Freelander :wasntme:.
It's like a float from the Madi Gras.

It's like a float from the Madi Gras.
So you know of the Homo Hippo,
They hang large incandecent hoop ear rings from its mirrors during the parade.
I admit they have been given a bad rap though, but don't worry, like the Rav 4 the popularity of this model is ensured by the Freelanders ability to park in tight spaces, it's good all around vision for tight reverse parks and a very robust rear bumper for all of them inner city shunt like manoevours. It is let down buy it's tendency to "blow Heads" and require regular headjobs to keep the K series happy. It is however very capable in a sloppy back paddock with a decent set of Mud Terrains fitted.

seems like a 'put down a mate in a landy' thread.
i wave to all landys, 'cept ones that are obviously not going to return the courtesy.
like sport, rr top of the range jobbies and the like.
i get a few back too.
it's interesting how persistance pays too, i see some most morning and night, interesting to see how some finally return the gesture, and some now get the wave in first.

I wave to all landies - series, rangies, deefers, discos, freeos....some wave back, some don't. Such is life. My missus says..."Why do you persist..?" I say, "It's the right thing to do.."

I drive a Disco and I wave to all of Sollihulls products as a matter of courtesy.
Rangie and Freelander drivers tend to give me a blank stare, Deefer drivers sometimes wave, Series drivers always wave.
The fact that my Disco looks like it gets used off road induces waves the most I reakon.

Yes I wave lots from my "girlie" D2, at all sorts, but rarely if ever get anything back. I know its not a rock crawler but it aint stock either...
Still, the the same with the Heep...TJ Wrangler drivers nearly always wave but the new JK Wranglers...few and far between...ah well.
