1997 disco indicator light on dash

Hi,

when I put my indicators on not only does the light with the arrows flash but so does the light with a trailor symbol. Is it meant to do this? If not, what is the problem and how do I fix it?

If you have extra indicators in the bull bars or have added load to the indicator circuit it will come on.

If you change the bull bar globes and the rear bar globes to low wattage LED globes (available at Kmart or any auto shop) then it wont come on.

It's supposed to flash once when the indicators are operated.
If it flashes all the time with the indicators it could be one of two things:

You have a trailer hooked up
You have a bullbar with extra indicators

I do in fact have a bullbar with extra indicators.

Also, the indicators don't switch off automatically. Is this normal? If not, how do I fix it?

There's a cancelling ring under the steering wheel. Sometimes the tab breaks off that.

Probably as Scouse says: The plastic tab on the cancelling ring breaks off

I've replaced mine twice in 130,000 km :mad:. Easy and relatively inexpensive to fix in the non airbag version.:)

If you have a workshop manual or the RAVE disc you will see how to do this. If you don't have the RAVE disc you can purchase it from here via the "Shop" tab in the menu bar above (and you help this site:D)
