ok chaps and chappettes,
this may have been covered before but here goes.
current tyres are 235/70-16 xpc's, looking at 245/70-16 694's (bridgestones).
finances may only allow for four new tyres keeping the as new original xpc, what's your thoughts on running the smaller spare for now as a just in case  should a puncture occurr.
obviously once funds permit would get the same size spare.
thanks
yorkie :)
ps. once the new tyres are on anyone fancy heading to lithgow to test them?

I've got the same tyres (I assume you're getting the new LT design?) and still have a Michelin 235/70-16 as my spare. Dunno if I could be bothered paying another $240 for a 5th 694LT, just to get the same tyre as my spare, when I have 4x 40% 235/70's sitting in the shed.
I'm very happy with the 694's, both on bitumen and gravel so far. Very positive feel when cornering

I bought four 694s in the 245/70 for the disco and found them to be a fantastic tyre, both size and performance wise. I ran the smaller spare until I found a cheap second hand 245/70 to replace it. Luckily, touch wood, haven't needed the spare. :)
Cheers,
Pete

theoretically a 235/70 has a sidewall height of 164.5mm and a 245/70 is 171.5mm which is only a difference of 7mm ;) bugger all really but as Brett said, drive it only as far as you have to and it should be okay :D

thanks all
at $210 a tyre think they should be good value and an improvement on the bald xpc's currently on there.
cheers
