opposite lock/frontrunner water tank 2007 defender

Has anyone fitted a opposite lock/frontrunner water tank to new defender. This is the one that sits in the rear wheel arch on the passenger side. It is different than previous model that fitted the td5. I am having trouble fitting it and would like to talk to someone that has fitted one. The WA dist (Russell) is on hols to 22May and the local O/L has never installed one.

Hi, sorry I don't fully follow something you said but unless changes have been made to the water tank it won't fit due to the muffler. I was going to get it done until I decided to sell my Defender but it will not just fit straight in.

The muffler isn't the problem, I am having other problems.

I installed this water tank on the weekend. Too late to help RMB3218, but I thought this advice may be useful for future installations.

I agree the instructions from front runner in the box are not 100% clear. It says to install the cover plate 110mm from the speaker (2007 - on). It should say 110mm to the centre of the cover plate.

Download the latest instructions from the Mulgo website, which now includes a ruler in the picture.

Yep he is correct I installed my a couple of years back and was painless until it came to the cut out for the filler! I landed up elongating the hole to a lot so the cover cover plate just covers. I was a bit ******off with this as it should be easy. Saying that though it works a treat and 3 bit of advice :
1. Make sure the tap is not mounted with the threaded galv pipe supplied with some kits, also make sure the tap is in a snag free position
2. Ensure there are no water traps in the outlet hose that would allow water to sit
3. I always add a cap full of Milton baby bottle purifier to stop the water going bad or letting tank grow mould

My rear deck sits about 80mm above the point in which the filler tube passes through the floor, and I considered extending the tube, but I would also like to put a right angle there to avoid wetting the carpet...

Put a long hose through the filler cap, vent to atmosphere, reverse fill through drain tap. Done.

Been doing this for years with mine.

I didn't want to cut a hole through the floor so I plugged the filler port and drilled a small hole to fit a breather. I had to drill a new hole as there was no space to fit an "L" shaped hose fitting there but there is room if you move the breather across to about center of the width. Then I just ran a breather hose down and back fill the tank like "n plus one".
