Hi guys,
I have finally finished installing and tweaking the setup of the Ver4 wolf ecu on my 4.6ltr. I have been chipping away at it since feb and have changed direction a couple of times before settling on this final setup.

Im running a Honeywell GT1 Halleffect and a trigger-wheels 36-1 trigger modded to a 4+1 set, the ignitiors are M&W ECU2 twin channels firing the coils in a wasted spark config, Im now running bosch 4 orifice dual pattern injectors (ala ba ford 6cyl) They are a dream to use and provide much better afr control and stable idle than the drainpipe's lucas call injectors......:p

The car has a TON of torque now and will chirp all four tires on dry bitumen from a standing start. This is relativly untuned (12.5afr at WOT and 14.7 at cruise) and only running 25deg max timing so there is plenty more left in it

Im running a tech edge 2ZJ wide band controller with on board display and a bosch 7057 sensor.

Jezzaol's 4.6ltr is next, although he is running a ver3 wolf, but all the same hard ware and when thats done and dusted Taf's Country is getting the same deal as mine, These guys are definatly going to be impressed with how it performs......

What amazes me the most is the super super stable idle and starting. The ecu was reading 6deg's C of coolant and air temp this morning and 530 am and the rangie fired straight up and idle at a stable 850rpm, drop the car into drive and i maintains 750 rpm with no other idle control other than timing and fuel. The extra air solenoid isnt even connect at the moment!

I grabbed a few photos, sorry for the poor quality but im still learning how to drive my N95:confused:

cheers
Luke:D

good news butt -well done.
i'm getting all excited about getting mine done now. if it's as sweet as it sounds might even get another for the rangie ;)

Wide band gauge and wolf controller location (again sorry for the bad pics, i will get some more tommorow during the day)

You dont do many river crossings, yea?:D

By the way, its impossible to chirp all 4, unless you had you centre diff lock locked and fron and rear lockers engaged:p

You road tuneing or dyno?

Yeah i have thought about the coil locations, IMHO water's for boats....:p I have had it running with the garden hose trained on the coils and it didnt miss a beat. The coils may get reloacted but i dont want to expose them to, too much heat if possible.

Chirping all four....not that oldl chestnut again.....:p I didnt say all four at the same time......:D I should have said it'l chirp a tire on each axle at the same time and has IN TOTAL chirped all four.....;)

I will do as much road tuning as i can then whack in on my mates dyno

Sensor mounting bracket and trigger disc, i also forgot to mention i will also be running an onboard knock sensor with timing reduction. The sensor is a run of the mill bosch unit and the controller/amp is a $23 jaycar kit that translates the voltage poduced into a 0v-5v voltage. The wolf has a external timing trim in put that allows timing to be retarded based upon the voltage supplied to the input. Im looking forward to playing with this because i plan to tune on 95 ron and run 91 ron if required.

I looked at much the same, except Microtech, when I was going to supercharge the 351 I had in the tray.............the only thing I never did and the 1 I probably should have, even had the blower

But sold it for a heap more than I paid for it:D

Hmm possibly the longest blower drive snout i've ever seen.....

Ever taken much notice how far from the centre of the manifold, the snout needs to reach to get to the front on a windsor;)

Was a complete kit from a 302, I was going to make another manifold for the 351

Havent played with ford V8's much to be honest. I would like to build and EB xr8 sprint with two t28's..... I NEED to build a forced induction V8:angel:

Pssst you mean ED;)

I had an ED XR8 sprint....sold it after a sprint from the law, and decided to give up road cars for a while:angel:

Shame, I wanted one for years to:(, the only car I kept for myself, I hadn't built:eek:

Umm one of my mates used to own an EB xr8 sprint......defiantly an XR8 and definatly an EB........its possible the sprint badges where take on tho

Mock or its an ED:p

I know my 90's fords and it was definatly an eb, mock sprint/xr8 maybe but definatly a factory fitted 5.0 mustang windsor. I had the heads off due to coolant leaking into the sump and it had cast heads and roller lifters. Also had and svo cam but im 99% sure this was fitted aftermarket.

It had a set of headers and a 3" exhaust and ran 13.7/13.8 1/4's all day long.

do bad it burned down do a dodgy stereo install.

I know my 90's fords .

Then you'd know there was no EB sprints:D

If they put a roller cam in, they'd of had to fit roller lifters, so no suprise there, E7 heads?

What plenum, intake, GT40?, would have had a grey cover also, with a dirty bolt through the middle of it, not quite as neat of a fit as a normal EFI windsor:mad:

A couple of pic of the difference between a 14 year old Lucus injector and a 3 year old bosch injector. No prizes for guessing why there easier to tune with. The also run a higher impedance which takes load off the injectors drivers in the ECU and allows finer control

Luke.

Have done a similar thing on my TVR (Rover V8).. execpt used Megasquirt/EDIS-8. I too have noticed the std Lucas Green injectors seem to give varying AFR..

If I go an auto shop and ask for " bosch 4 orifice dual pattern injectors (ala ba ford 6cyl)".. will they know what I mean. I understood bosch injectors were colour coded..and Reds provide the same cc/min as the Lucas Greens (240cc/min).

Is there a bosch part number?

thanks

The bosch part # is 0-280-156-124 $70 each from

Injectors Online - Product Catalogue (http://www.injectorsonline.com/indivprod.php?c=1)

$139.00 each from ford..

I used these because i had a set i could use for nothing. Depending on how much power you want to make you could possibly go smaller again and this would obviously give you better control.

cheers
Luke

Bit of a thread mine,
but on the subject of injectors, i tossed the 36LBHR bosch injector and went for a set of 19LBHR ford motorpsort 4 hole.

They are calculated too support 350hp which is more than enough for my little 4.6. Much easier too tune, better starting, idle and super stable AFRS

:)

I know its off topic but being a huge ford fan (owner of 6) i can verify that ford built xr8 sprints in the eb, the club scene called these a base model gt ie. no body kit or badges but all the good bits where they count. chris

Can't wait to get mine going! You've got me thinking of the Version 4 now though. Don't tell the wife that though:eek:

Sprints were released in September 93, which is ED territory, so no, there were no EB sprints;)

36P injectors on a baby rover, you'd wan't 1 bar boost for that to be viable:eek:, no wonder the 19pound injectors are better:)
