OK guys.. Its got me puzzled but I wont be beaten..
Recently the vehicle (2000 Disco2) started pulling left..
And I mean L-E-F-T.... Loosen grip on the wheel and your off the road
I hadnt been offroad, or bumped anything... I drove to work (3km) and then driving home it was pulling left :o
Ive done the usual checks..
- Loose bolts
- Steering damper (replaced with Billie and still doing it)
- Tyre pressures
- Wheel alignment (had 2 done now - In spec)
- Shocks
- PS fluid OK
- Brakes arent dragging
and the suspension bushes *seem* ok.
She's also getting a little "Flighty" on the road at the moment...
So, to the others on this forum with a Disco2... Anyone had something similar? Or experience with this problem?
Any advice that will shorten the diagnostics on this one would be appreciated

I had a similar problem with my D1 earlier this year, pulling to the left, wheel alignment OK and was wearing the outside of the tyre. Turned out to be a camber problem. I found an alignment data sheet from about 18 months before and found about a 1 degree change - it had gone just out of limits. Replaced the swivel pins and bearings on both sides, it now drives straight.
On a D2 it could be wear in the upper and/or lower ball joint causing the camber to be out of limits?
Cheers

might be failure of the centering spring in the powersteering box thats letting it apply left hand down.
are you getting any unexplained chatter type feedback from the steering?

Steerings smooth in operation, just flighty and pulling!
Checked calipers, all good there...
Going to swap some tyres around today:cool:

Most of the obvious ones have been suggested - is it possible that something has the front or rear axle out of position - suspension bushes, or corroded or cracked chassis. How about parking it on a flat level spot, with the wheels straight ahead and measure the distance between hub caps on each side - should be exactly the same.
But my guess is one or more sick suspension bushes, either front or back. Try levering them to see if there is any movement in any of them.

My D2 got to the point of being outright dangerous on the road. I went through all the things that you have done and could not nail it.
It use to tramline and was a handful when performing a fairly quick brake.
What changed it was the replacement of tyres. I had XPC's which were getting down. As soon as I went to BGF AT it doesn't wonder at all, braking is now effortless and not a handful of lock

Any play in wheel bearings, or King pin brgs (or do D2 have ball joints)?
Also when you say the wheel alignment has been checked do you actually have the full readout including rear axle?
On that note, it may not be the front end at all, say watt's linkage bushes etc, does it change line as you get on and off the loud pedal?

Yeah, I considered that..
The D1 and Def would do that if a rear bush was worn.
But no, it tracks nice on and off the loud pedal...
Thanks for the suggestions guys...
Going to go move tyres around and see if it changes anything..
May be an excuse for some new tyres...

I had that flighty problem, and a replacement drag link at the last service fixed that problem. There was play in the joints.

What size tyres are they ?
If you take the steering damper off does that make any difference ?
Has one of the front tyres separated?
Seems to sudden for bushes or the like to fail after a three kilometre drive

Problem Solved
Replaced the front and rear brake lines with Braided PTFE lines today.
Took the time to check all calipers (all ok)
Checked the joints... All good...
So when putting her back together I front to reared the tyres...
No more pull... ;)
Seems my utilisation of the ACE system has worn the outers of the front tyres nicely :)
