I have been scouring that font of information known as the internet for stuff about diesel alternatives and came across this mob:

Diesel Secret Energy - Alternative Biofuel Biodiesel (http://www.dieselsecret.com/)

Has anyone heard of them before? Needless to say I am intriguied yet cynical. Intriguied in that I saw something similar on Top Gear a while back. The process they showed of converting vegetable oil to something you could run a car on (in this case an old-ish Volvo station wagon) was just adding a small amount "white spirit" (what ever the hell that is) to filtered vegetable oil, let it sit for a week or so and presto - pump it into your car and away you go. No need for caustic soda and all the other issues with making "bio diesel" and also no need for preheating as can be the problem with normal vegie oil.

On the other hand I am cynical as a) I hadn't heard of them before b) it's on the internet and we know how much crap is out there between the porn and pirate movies and c) most importantly it seems to be aimed at Americans.

So there we have it. I am curious what others think. It's just that I am really interested in the whole vegie diesel thing because I have a ready supply of the stuff (old frying oil) just a few blocks from home and would definetly be cheaper than the real (outrageously overpriced) thing. BTW - anyone else remember when diesel was less than 30c / litre? Sigh...

I must be old. My God, I can remember distillate at 2/6d per gallon.

You add Unleaded petrol and Kero to the oil, some additive to up the cetones? or something like that (have to look it up) and their magic elixir (which is an anti water absorbing agent)
Took five months to arrive from the states. I'd given up.
