Gday guys
I'm going to look at a cheap 1992 RRC EAS tomorrow. I'm not too keen on the air suspension and was wondering how much is involved with switching to coils. From from I understand it's not too hard.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Cheers
Graeme

I forgot, can remove the abs and retrofit a standard maaster cylinder and booster?

what plans do you have for all the old EAS bits?

There is quite a lot of stuff if you want to remove it properly, but it isnt that hard

4 airbags
Compressor and valve block under drivers footwell floor
Tank under passenger footwell floor
Switch panel on centre console
All associated wiring and plumbing
Height level switches...

I acually think the air suspension is worth keeping if it you have a nice one which has been looked after. Mine will be left with air suspension, and I will do my best to keep it working properly.

Cheers
Pete.

g'day madkelpie, imho its worth sticking with the eas as its a great system when working ok but like anything it suffers badly from being under maintained. unlike coils you do have to give it a bit of tlc. just make sure the systems air tight as it can bugger the compressor if its not. mine was getting a bit noisey so i removed the air filter and gave it a squirt of air motor oil, then gave it a squirt after the drier to lubricate the valve block. i know the book says keep it dry but this has worked a treat, its quieter and quicker and a bit of air motor oil never hurt. just dont put heaps in as the drier wont like it. as for the abs i think aquarangie has just done this to vog so have a look at his thread. hope this helps

cheers

Just to add, is there any reason you want to remove the ABS? They also run a rear axle traction control system... (at least some of them do) which is pretty good.

Thanks for the response guys. The reason i'm asking about removing abs and eas is becasue this rangie has been sitting for six months and as it's a long drive to look i'm just considering worst case scenarios. However it is a one owner car and it's less than four so it might be worth a punt.

If I remove the eas / abs I will sell the bits.
