Fitting a water pump

Just a quick question, I am about to fit a new water pump to my Disco a 95 TDI.

Will the gasket supplied be suffient to ensure no leaks or should I be using an extra sealer with the gasket.

I would use a smear of gasket goo on the gasket.

I would just give it a light smear of goo, But more importantly replace the p gasket as well because you loosen off three bolts that hold tension against that inside housing when you remove the water pump.
