G'day all!

Having just changed the ball joints on the Disco I wonder if someone has a clue and detailed description how to adjust the front wheel alignment. The reason for this is that
most tyre shops around here cannot do the check on a vehicle of this size and the ones that can have no rush to get it done
camber and castor cannot be adjusted and I don't want to get charged for all these measurements when they only will do the toe setting (if they do)So it really should be a straightforward check and measurement and adjustment on the track rod if the adjusters aren't rusted solid (as were the ball joints).
Thanks for all input!

Cheers
Johannes

The (crude but) easy way:

Get a long, thin rope or clothes line. Tie it to the tow bar. Run it all the way around the car, so that runs along the centres of each wheel (well the front wheels anyway).

Use that as a guide to adjust. With the wheels dead straight, the rope should touch the front endge of both front sidewalls, and the sum of the gaps at the rear should be 1-2mm.

Hey Dave - remember when we did this to the 110 in a carpark in Guatemala???

Mate,
did it as suggested. The stuff with the rope was the easy bit (although it puzzled me for a while until I tucked away the mud flaps). The real bugger was the adjuster on the rod... corroded solid!!! Took me several litres of WD40 and litres of sweat, plenty of swear words and all my polygrips failed. Enter the induction heater my friend has in his work shop. Then it went like a breeze. Well, nearly anyway. Thanks for the advice!

Cheers

Glad to hear it worked in the end!
