Is there any definitive way to know which model and which year classics had air suspension?
I know the LSE's did, but many SE's don't seem to. Is there any rhyme or reason?

G`day Dougal

All after 92 came from the factory with EAS ( air suspension )

Some late 92 had air but they were special edition .

Coils can be fitted to any though by using bits from pre air models .

If you want the model basically , they were 93 KA , 94 LA and 95 MA , though the way Landrover does models KA is actually 92/3 LA 93/4 MA 94/5 .

Cheers
Peter

Stick your head under and have a look! That is a surefire way of checking what sort of springs are fitted!

Sure is, but I'm trying to sift through internet "for sale" ads at the moment. :)

Thanks, so a 92 with this chassis code "SALLHAMM3JA" is an HA and came out with coils?

Almost , no the JA says 91/2 and comes factory with coils .

The last 2 letters before the serial number are the one your after .

In actual fact with these later ones the only letter you need is the 2nd last before the serial because the last letter is an A on all .

The A denotes that it was built in the UK at the Solihull plant .

Also the HA you`ve noted , if you find a B in the same place this tell you it is an LSE , that`s to say the 6th letter if A 100inch and if B LSE 108inch

Cheers

Edit... When your looking at pics of cars , if you can see the fuel filler flap ...... on the later 92/3/4/5 classic it is located higher up on the quarter panel than prior to 1992 .

From 87 when the flap was fitted they are all lower in the quarter than the later ones , in the same place as the first 2 doors .

Thanks again.
I'm well versed with the filler cap location. To get a full tank on my 85 I've resorted to finding stations with forecourts that slope down to the left. Hence the original desire for a 92+ body. The air suspension will be the icing on the cake, but probably half the ones for sale have had the system swapped for coils. I want air.
