Ok

I bought a new new model ASUS 900 eePC tonight at JB Hifi. $596. Stock came in this afternoon.

Win XP, 12GB SSD, 8.9" LCD, wifi, webcam, ethernet and a 5800mAH battery.

Had oziexplorer up and running in under 45 minutes with moving map.

Very happy with screen size/clarity. Yet to see in daylight

Only in white (pearl) at this stage. JB claim pink has been their biggest seller in the 700 model.

I saw an item on TV this morning, some guys are doing a journey through canada somewhere cold, they chose to use eePC's for the trip coz they are solid state and reliable. They said they bought them and stuck them in a freezer at -40 degrees to test them!:o

i got an acer 6292 12"ws with a decent magnesium chassis with T9300 cpu and 4gig mem, 250g sataII and silicon keyboard skin, 3 year next day warranty and a shade under 2k with a docking station..

not normally a fan of acer gear but nothing in the class from other manufacturers gets even close for the money and features...

got some grunt, plays that new land rover game with plenty to spare whilst running oziexplorer in an xp pro window under vitrual pc 7 on vista business.

xp doesnt run nicely on the laptop natively i have to say though... all fine under virtual pc 7 as luck would have it.

replaced my work machine and laptop with one unit, and have the imac for my data recovery and graphice work etc etc so am very very happy...

just got to make a mount for it in the defender :P

Those EeeeeePceees looked pretty nice, decent specs, price. What I really want for in-car use is a touchscreen. I find keyboards fiddly and not required. I hear there are new ones on the way with touchies.

In the meantime my Asus R2H works well.
