need urgent advice on fitting the blue trucksprings airbags to D2 coils

Hi - got some of the blue airbags from trucksprings for a very good price, and then obtain some 2-inch rubber spacers to go with my 2-inch lift OME springs. Got some nutscratchers to put in the whole suspension set-up and instructed them to put the rubber spacer on the bottom which also serves to cover the sharp bolt heads and then the standard plastic trucksprings spacer on top of the airbags. By the time I got home, the top plastic spacer had dislodged and was sitting at an angle and sticking out of the top coil mount.

The nutscratchers are a 4WD specialist who should be used to fitting airbags. I'll be taking it back to them tomorrow, but have the following Qs for those who have fitted these before:

. the one-piece plastic spacer has a larger and smaller diameter section - they've put it in with the lager diameter uppermost, but I'm wondering if the smaller diameter should be uppermost so it fits snugly into the middle of the top coil mount?

. the kit came with two long bolts but these were not referred to in the instructions. The spacers have three holes in them, but they don't go all the way through - I'm wondering if somehow the spacer is supposed to be bolted into place to stop it moving around?

I just had a look at the trucksprings website - you have the firestone version of polyairs -

Regarding the top spacer: Yes, it should snugly fit into the top of the coil mount, small dia up. In my polyairs, the cut out angles out to protect the air tube.

I have similar springs, and I don't use any spacers, but I do use a piece of 1cm rubber to cover the the spring retainer bolts. I use cable ties to keep them in place. I'm not certain how the bolts and holes you describe fit into the equation, but at least the top spacers need to be flipped over - and that means taking it all out and starting again.

I have Firestone airbags in my disco I with additional rubber block to make up for 3" spring lift.

The stepped block fits with the small diameter up so it fits inside the chassis spring perch. Mine fit tight and that keeps them in place.

thanks guys...you gotta love mechanics don't you... In addition to this, they did up two wheel nuts so tight that I can't even undo them with a breaker bar - you'd think a 4WD place would know how important it is to be able to get your wheels off when somewhere remote!

Last time I got tyres, they did them up so tight that I, like you, could not move them with the 3/4 drive breaker bar, or my 1/2 drive compressed air impact wrench. I had to go and borrow a 3/4 drive rattle gun from a mate. Would have been great out in the bush.

yep, always pays to check your nuts - so to speak - any time you've let a 'mechanic' take your wheels off...too easy to forget about them and then discover that a minor tyre problem turns into a major drama out bush...

Firestone Blue Vs PolyAir Bags Does anyone have a reason to prefer one Brand over the other? In particular the durability and quality of one brand compared to the other? ... Your thoughts, Cheers

I have had 2 sets of Polyairs, one in and out of a 77RRC for about 7-8 years all up and one set currently in my 92RRC for 5years.
I have never had a problem, even taking the valves out for mountain tracks.
I have never covered the bolts as in my first set there was very little wear.
My second set has now done GRR, Tanami, Plenty, Oodnadatta, Strezlecki,Kalumburu , Savannah Way towing a camper with no problems.

So I reckon that Polyairs are excellent.
