I expect this is going to be a little flamatory to some but I am sure there will be someone who knows 'the other brands' :eek:and can offer advice.

A friend has just lunched a CV. It's an IFS 100s with a pair of ARBs.
Q1 - Is there a recommended upgrade CV? I have heard of Longfield but have also heard of accelerated wear issues with these.
Q2 - Should he even go down this road? Do the ARBs support the CW&P enough or would he be better off leaving the fail point in the CVs? (I would).

cheers

I guess it depends on how many he expects to break. When I worked on pit tojo's I never replaced a broken CV,they lost teeth off the crown wheel first.Maybe your mate has moved the weak point by adding ARB centres to the CV's. Pat

I can't help with stronger CV's and I don't think Longfields do them for the IFS. It seems to be a common failure point with locked LC100 IFS front ends though, and it'll be interesting to see if anybody develops a fix for them as they're not really a popular choice for rock hopping and CV breaking. There is a company in QLD called Haultech (Sam or Charles) who can heat treat the CV's to remove some of the brittleness out of them, and this by all reports makes a significant improvement to the CV's ability to absorb impact forces, though the trade is ultimate life of the CV.

Think they have H/D items for IFS. They should be able to help you or point you in thr right direction.
