Hello all,

Sunday 15th June is the annual "A La Carte in the Park" at Mitchell Park, Southport (opposite Smith St. on the Gold Coast Highway... beside the caravan park).

A great opportunity to sample plates of food and drink from a range of the Gold Coast's restaurants... usually a very busy day depending on time and weather :D

SO thinking a group meet would be a great opportunity on this day. Plan is we will get some members in early to secure a spot, get up a gazebo and set in for a while... maybe 10-3pm.

Bring a chair or two, come in for a drink, feed and some good chatting time with your fellow landy enthusiasts.

WHO'S COMING ALONG???

A La Carte in the Park
Sunday, June 15, 2008
The 21st annual A La Carte in the Park, the Gold Coast’s biggest food and wine event, will be held at Mitchell Park, Southport, overlooking the beautiful Broadwater, on Sunday 15 June from 10.00a.m. to 4.00p.m.

Mitchell Park is in Marine Parade Southport, less than 1 kilometre north of Anzac Park, adjacent to the Broadwater caravan park, and opposite North Street. A La Carte in the Park is moving to this new location due to the redevelopment of the Southport Broadwater Parklands, and in 2009 will return to the new events precinct in the parklands following the $32 million redevelopment.

The 2008 A La Carte in the Park will again feature a vast array of food booths featuring multi cultural cuisine such as Vietnamese, Hungarian, German, Mexican and Indian. All dishes are available from $3.00 to $8.00 per plate, and there will also be a selection of both local and national wines to be enjoyed.

As well as delicious food and wine, there will be live cooking demonstrations and great Gold Coast bands performing throughout the day. A La Carte in the Park is a free community day where the whole family can enjoy the live entertainment, face painting and balloons for children, whilst sampling the fabulous food and wines of the Gold Coast.

A La Carte in the Park is presented by Restaurant & Catering Queensland, and is a key event in the GC Bazaar Festival of Fashion, Food & Fun being held across the Gold Coast in June.

What a brilliant day all... great company, food and drink :D:D:D

Had a perfect spot with the only bit of shade around as no trees in the park they used this year (due to refurbishing of there normal park) and we had the only private gazebo around ;)

Although before everyone turned up it was a bit of a battle to make other patrons realise it was a private gazebo as they kept walking to it and trying to setup... even had people around the outskirts of it in the reflected shade

Funniest though was a clown who showed up riding her special clown mobile... parking in the reflected shade and exclaiming that we will need to shift our seats as the shade moves  so she can move under as she will be there for 3 hrs  and with a big line up of kids.... ummmm yeah sure you are and we will :twisted::twisted:

Thanks again all... hope you had a good time as well.

Onto the next social event which includes a drive down Mt Warning way to visit the old Harley St. Brasserie (where we had our AGM a couple years back) which is now calling a few acres of green home ;) stay tuned :D
