Hi , Just wonderihg what might be going on?, cannot get that P gasket to seal up for any length of time on the 300tdi. Have been using the latest gasket, have had the thing spotlessly clean , including the bolt threads and holes. have not replaced any bolts as yet, as corrosion has not been a concern but just wondering if the threads might be stretched and loosing tension after a while? What is the best sealent to use with that latest gasket?, starting to think that i might p@@@S that off and just cut my own out of good quality gasket paper. starting to get a dose of the landrover owners diarrea!!:mad:

Thanks for any help

Cheers Sumo:D

I used ultra blue sealant on three I have done, one was my defender and they have not leaked a drop since.I let it go until there is a ''skin'' on the bead before I join it up,I also have a bolt with the head cut off to line it all up.Do the bolts up evenly a couple of turns each and work your way around so she all tightens up even. Just for you Sumo, but I'm guessing it's nothing you don't already know. Maybe PM Andkat or Langy to see how they're going since they both seem to have the multiple P gasket bug.

Have a look at this thread, has an interesting problem with less than quality face on the water pump.

Stag sets hard. That is why it's leaking. The alloy housing expands alot more and quicker than cast iron. The first time it comes up to temp and cools back down the seal is broken.Always use flexable sealant on cars.Aircraft grade is best. Pat

When they changed to the new 'P' gasket they also specced up longer bolts to go with it...
