Suspension D2 again.....

I have been watching the 'Lift or not' suspension thread and have searched endlessly for all the information for a D2.

Just to get an idea I popped down to ARB and asked alot of questions about what their recommendation are. They suggested I go for a 40mm lift medium spring setup as we are really only set for touring and not rock crawling.

What has stumped ARB and there are no other reference points here that ARB did not know that a D2 has ACE :eek:

Now I know I can ask some serious questions but can there be a distinction between non-ACE and ACE? I already know that you get more articulation with ACE so logic tells me that you must have different spring rates for a D2 with ACE.

Has anyone encountered this problem and have other suppliers offered different combinations to take in ACE?

No logic there... Ace or No ace... the springs are the same..

Although with ace you can run a lighter rate and get less body roll on corners..

But for OME / ARB product... to get the lift you need the right spring...

225lb front with Bullbar, 300-340lb rear...

Just tell them you want:

OME779
OME762

Then its up to you if you want firm or comfort shocks.... :cool:

BTW... ARBs suspension team are VERY aware of the ACE in D2's...

Obviously the drip behind the counter is a Toyisan lover and doesnt know diddly squat about LR :eek:

I was personally involved in the D2 suspension tuning with ARB.

personally I'd only be fitting firmer ARB springs in the rear if you're only planning on doing heavily-loaded touring. If you're planning on doing any firetrail work, go the softest OME springs and the comfort shocks - the softest springs are actually called 'Medium' and then there are two firmer constant load spring options. I fitted the latter to my S1 Disco and it really limited offroad performance having such firm springs and was positively dangerous in some situations resulting in the rear end bouncing out of line suddenly.

On my S2 Disco, I've fitted the Mediums in the rear and will handle heavy touring loads with airbags - I think this provides the best of both worlds.
