Hi All,
Today I think I picked up a real bargain... think..
Vortex VA-250 in Car DVD/VCD/CD/MP3 Player With MPEG4 - for 90 bucks!!
It even fits in to the Rangie slot perfect :)
However, I have been searching the web trying to find the maker, would love to get a PDF file for this unit.
The best I found was this: Vortex VA-250 in Car DVD/VCD/CD/MP3 Player With MPEG4 - eBay Players, Audio, Video, Car Parts, Accessories, Cars, Bikes, Boats. (end time 13-Jun-08 17:15:32 AEST) (http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170226548849&_trksid=p2759.l1259#ebayphotohosting)
Any help would be great :)

mmm, well - I never found out who made it - but today I installed it to test it & make sure the unit works... plus - for 90 bucks I had to see what I got.
In short, its an in-dash CD, DVD, MP3, MPEG4/Divx player that also has USB & an Aux input on the front, has RCA out-put for bigger screen for watching DVD's on, audio out for amp, inputs for a rear parking camera & switches. The RCA out puts are unreal & go directly to an AMP as it uses 5.1 sound as well.
Again... for $$90.00 bucks!! Friggen Bargin!

Well didn't get to finish today due to lack of light - but the head unit install is 95% done.
I decided to use plastic terminals to wire up the radio. I later found that down the line of wire there was a plug for each wire... but then someone before hand had cut wires to wire in another head unit. Anyway - decided to atleast do the terminals since I got them.

I taped up the wires leading to & from each terminal & around the terminal it self.

I also put a fuse in - just in case & made an extra plug which will be used for the CB I reckon :)

Lots of RCA plugs for audio out for each channel, Subwoofer, Video out, as well as Audio & video IN puts.

And... this is what I mean by 95% done :)
It was a good idea at the time to use the plastic terminals... but now I have to tuck them up as I put in the radio unit & run the rca plugs for later use. Since it got dark I decided to leave it resting in there for now & tested it out. Works great, plays Divx & MPEG4 movie's plus DVD's & MP3's. Which is wicked as I can throw on a 4WD'ing DVD with some rock music while I am doing my own 4WD'ing :) hahah!

looks good, although i would recommend soldering any jins you need to make instead of plastic connectors

oh they are not full plastic - the centre & screws are copper I think? what ever it is it conducts as well. Plus it will be all sealed up in case of water.... lol not that its planned but you never know. Also I plan on replacing the wiring with new stuff.

ahh to give it away - thought everyone knew where to get recycled hot car radio's??
Cash Converters :)
I drop past one in Knox City every now & then to look for CB's or any bargins. EG: My printer that I have is a USB all in one printer, photo copier, scanner & does full colour photo printing as well... cost me 20 bucks! Why? Coz they didn't have the manual or software, 20min down load off HP fixed that.
This radio was for 100 - offered 90 & appected (Cash) I can tell you why it was sold - the motor for the face plate is worn - but its still fine & I can replace it - so for 90 bucks I am still in front big time :) the 280 ~ 300 I was going to pay for a head unit will now go to JBL speakers & amp :)
Oh - cashies are good for Amps as well hahaha I wouldn't buy too much from there but they allow up to 3 months for you to swap or return your items

Ah I see.
Cash Convertors on this side of the world is a rip off.
Maybe I could contact some of my brothers mates in Adelaide for a cheap stereo / DVD.:o
Hang on, most of them are in jail.:eek:

really? that suxs - not much comp for second hand goods vs new or something? Guess in Esperance it might be an issue... what about Perth? (Btw - really want to go there one day :) )
Just thought I would mention I got some awesome JBL speakers for the rangie, little 4" jobs & are 2" deep... so a spacer will be needed. I hooked them up to the head unit for a test - unreal! will pick up a little amp soon - cashies have heaps of them atm lol I think its just a pitty about all the owners finding a missing amp from their car. :/ if I ever get one stolen I know I'll go over a few of the cashie like places myself. ;)
