Does anyone know the changes that were made to the 130 defender from early 2003 to the 2003 August update ?
Or if sombody knows of a web site that lists the Defender models and the changes that took place in them over the last perhaps 10 years. thanks in advance mick

I was under the impression that other than a single windscreen, some different door handles and got rid of the rails on the roof and some engine/gbox upgrades, nothing had changed on them since the series 2.:o:wasntme::angel::eek:

ECU changed from a hardwired EPROM (?) to flashable. Later ones are much easier to remap as they can just be re-flashed.

Rear diff went from the virtually unbreakable Salisbury 8HA to a Rover P38 style about then.

Nope the 130 lost it too, as the ARTC ones that were running around here only had a P38 style back end.

On the new 130 i saw a couple of days ago, not only was the diff different but the drive shafts were about 20% smaller in diameter i'm not sure if they changed the drive shaft size when they changed the diff or if they changed the shafts when the new ford donk and six speed box came in.

drive shafts as in axles, or drive shafts as in prop shafts ?

Rear drive shaft diameter (prop) on a 300Tdi is 2.75", front one is 2". LR really couldn't go much smaller than this, surely ?

There aren't any post '02 Defenders around here anymore for me to have a look under. Hopefully someone can enlighten you by measuring their post '02 TD5 and a Puma engined TD4
